Re: Nba 2k12.
I don't understand why there's the limitation on the classic teams being used online. If it's for cheating purposes, is it that hard to create a separate game mode just for classic teams to play each other? Or is it somehow a licensing issue?

Re: Nba 2k12.
I don't see how it could be any liscensing issue. Especially since on 2k11 for teamup games sometimes it would randomly put you playing as the classic teams.

Re: Nba 2k12.
Demo is out bitches.
Dirk is unstoppable in the demo, but it seems to be set on a very low difficulty. |
Re: Nba 2k12.
I wish they had the full choice of cameras for the demo. Who plays basketball from the side view anymore? So much more realistic with an end to end perspective. Players have a weighty feel to them, which i like. Faces looks a bit pasted on almost NBA Jam style, which i didn't like. They still cant do hair in video games can they?
The demo certainly didn't sell me on 2K12. Not because it's bad but I haven't had 2K11 for long which i love anyway so i think i will hold off for a bit. I do like the additions to My Player so that's certainly something id like to give a go at some point. |

Ummm...I always have played from the side view, and I did in 2k11. I can't stand end to end or top to bottom as I like to call it. But then I've been playing basketball games for 20 years so in a way I'm used to it. I play it like a television broadcast. *shrug*.

The game looks so much better with broadcast cam. I don't find it any less realistic than the other views, in fact it is more realistic to me if anything because it looks so similar to a game on tv. |
Re: Nba 2k12.
I use the sideview too.

Re: Nba 2k12.
I would like to retract my previous statement then

Re: Nba 2k12.
I like playing in broadcast cam mode also. But if you're going against a very good player who plays end to end, he has an advantage as he has a better overall view of the court, easier to make fastbreaks, etc... broadcast view kinda limits your view. Well, at least that's my excuse why I always lose ;)

NBA 2K12 To Have Legend-Based DLC; Historic Teams Online for a Price.
http://www.pastapadre.com/wordpress/...dsshowcase.jpg When the news was first reported that historic teams would not be available to play online in NBA 2K12 that was a big disappointment. Considering that rosters are largely the same as last year due to the lockout they would have provided some much needed variety and been the incentive to play online. 2K Sports didn’t really comment on the subject to explain why that was – but now it appears to be evident. The option will be available through paid downloadable content called “The Legends Showcase”. The image above was tweeted out by someone with a copy of the game and it shows what is being included in the DLC. An outdoor environment in Times Square is the locale for what will be historic team match-ups online and special legend-based challenges. No word on how much the DLC will cost as of yet but it does look like it will be available on release day. This represents a shift away from the company’s avoidance of holding content to release as DLC – something that was inevitable. This may very well provide value as an add-on but it may not have been the year to go this route considering many consumers don’t view the base product as desirable because of the ongoing lockout. Re: Nba 2k12.
Okay that's better than nothing. Can't wait to play as Magic Johnson online.
|
Re: Nba 2k12.
Paid DLC just to be able to play with the legends online? (I'm not even going to mention how absurd the idea of release day DLC is). Lordie, I guess it is better than nothing but it is still frustrating.

Re: Nba 2k12.
If they offer more classic teams for paid d/l, I'd be up for that. But it sounds like the online mode is basically the blacktop mode from last year which sucked ass.

Re: Nba 2k12.
Still going to pick this up around Christmas, I just haven't put in the time in NBA2K11 to where I feel like I got my money's worth.

Re: Nba 2k12.
I'm waiting on this just like last years. That is an impressive review, but the whole lockout thing has just made me forget about basketball for awhile.
When it's $30, I might bite. |
Re: Nba 2k12.
Yeah, the lockout is going to make this a hard sell, I would think. I wonder if it was luck or foresight that had them focusing on the classic teams this year...

Re: Nba 2k12.
I think I finally learned my lesson with 2K11's crappy online servers.
I am not buying 2K12 if the servers still suck. Waiting 10-20 minutes to find a team up game just to have everyone lag out is not my idea of fun. I used to play 2K9 / 2K10 online daily but I've finally gotten tired of the 2K11 servers. |
Re: Nba 2k12.
From what I hear they have removed the Crew mode from this years game. That is a bummer because to me the fun part about making a Myplayer was using him as part of a crew against other people's Myplayers.

Re: Nba 2k12.
I forgot this came out tomorrow. I went to the Amazon order page and I'm getting an Oct. 7 delivery estimate if I choose 2 day (Prime). I guess they had a lot of pre-orders. I definitely prefer to have a Magic cover, but unfortunately it's random through Amazon.
Target is offering a $10 gift card with purchase, so I may just stop in there tomorrow morning and hope they have the Magic cover. |

Re: Nba 2k12.
I'm really wondering how much of an effect the lockout will have on the sales of this game -- especially at launch. I'm actually guessing a lot, since there's little incentive to get this game (at least right now) when nobody knows who'll even be on their favorite team next season (or if there even will be a next season). I think the Legends stuff is pretty cool, but I wonder about the bulk of NBA 2K patrons, who I imagine just want to play this year's teams. In addition, there would normally be a big buzz about the upcoming season at the time the game came out. The only NBA news I hear about these days is Kobe's pending contract with an Italian team. I predict as big a negative effect as there was when Tiger started slumping and sales of TW11 & 12 went in the crapper. We'll see, I guess.
Personally, I'm not buying this until it drops cheap. Too many other hot games in the next 30-40 days. |
