Oooo, I would like a Larry Bird please (good to see that they are keeping the Jordan/Legends thing and expanding on it). Funny thing though, I just finished one year of association mode yesterday on 2k11 (with the Wizards lol) and working on about three more achievements before I close the book on it. I had a great run with it and despite some early bugs (I often wished I could go back and change my review score due to the numerous patches), it ended up as one of the best basketball games I have ever played. Hopefully I will get to review this one as well.

Wasn't Jordan on last years cover?
They should have put someone else on it. The Admiral, or Barkley, or Hakeem.
Then again, I would have paid double for a cover with Bosh crying, or LeChoke hanging his head in shame while the Mavs celebrate.

Any confirmation yet if it will include the Jordan challenges (or another legend) again like last year? Or let you play as any of the legends?

I've only put in like 30 hours of play into 2K11 so I think I'll hold off on buying this year's edition...at least for a few months or so when it's dropped to like $30 bucks.

Maybe it will have a "Sonny Weems" Mode, where you'll only be able to control various teams from Russia, Turkey, and Greece filled with 4th-rate NBA benchwarmers who are playing overseas while the lockout is on.

Re: Nba 2k12.
If I read the achievement right (for every 2 hours, I get one of the air jordans), that means I have 70 hours into the game. But it kinda makes sense when I have played through one entire season (58 games + playoffs) and messed around with myplayer mode. Hopefully before Oct 4th I can get the Slam Dunk achievement and the Getting a 3 at the Buzzer to tie along with the Air Jordans chievo or else I am pretty sure I will forget about them.

Good luck with the slam dunk contest one, for the life of me I still can't figure out how to pull off a dunk.

Of course, there is something fitting about ending the season of Association mode by blanking the Mavericks 4 to 0. I had a worse time with the Bulls who I scrapped by in a best of 5, 3 to 2. Odd

Speculation is over. Here is the lineup, straight from the horse’s mouth.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar;
Larry Bird;
Wilt Chamberlain;
Julius Erving;
Patrick Ewing;
Magic Johnson;
Michael Jordan;
Karl Malone;
Hakeem Olajuwon;
Scottie Pippen;
Oscar Robertson;
Bill Russell;
John Stockton;
Isiah Thomas;
Jerry West.
Preorder details: Early birds get two extra pieces of history, the 1990-91 Golden State Warriors and the 2001-02 Sacramento Kings. These teams also come with their own basketball greats. This is for 360 and PS3 only.

I guess they couldn't come to an agreement with Barkley. I wonder why. This is all speculation, but it is weird.

Reading between the lines, it appeared that Barkley, like the Indiana Pacers' great Reggie Miller (polling No. 5 five on that vote), couldn't come to an agreement with 2K Sports over the use of his likeness, last year or this year. Whatever's going on, either he wants too much money, wants a cover or other promotional considerations 2K can't afford or grant.
Or he objects to second-billing under some other star from a cast of dozens highlighting this game. Or, conversely, one of Barkley's old rivals refuses to appear in a game with him. Or, maybe, he signed a Rumplestiltskenian deal with the makers of Barkley: Shut Up and Jam promising them his firstborn if he appeared in another game.
