I never really played Diablo, but I know it had the dropped weapons of different colors like Borderlands. Not sure about their skill tree, but the skill tree in Dead Island is exactly the same as WoW, right down to the three different catagories.

Besides, Diablo and WoW are both owned by Activision Blizzard, so I guess that doesn't matter who came up with it first.

Someone here said that it was more realistic, and I laughed, and then I played the game and I agreed with him.

Since right now I'm playing Gears of War 2 in the Xbox 360, trying to get some achievements, and I'm going to be playing Gears 3 when it's released, I got this game for the PC. $39 (digital download) from Amazon, it's actually a Steam download. That way I can play Dead Island during the day in my breaks from work.

I've played for only one hour but I've doing a lot of testing, you know how it's playing in the PC, changing settings, resolution, high detail, trying the keyboard, trying the Xbox pad, etc.
My apologies for not replying to your "invite" last night...GOW2. I was wrapped up in Dead island and thought it was another...wrong or mistaken invite. Then I remembered you on going thru GOW2 on coop. If i'm on and you still need someone I'll join. However i think i'm two hrs ahead and when you sent the invite it was already around 12midnight.

Re: Dead Island

Oops! Did I send you an invite? I'm sorry, it really was a mistake.

If anyone receives an invite for me, it probably it's a mistake, I don't a have a lot of time to play during the week, so I just try to grind a few rounds in horde.

To stay on topic, the game (Dead Island) is better than the trailer.

Re: Dead Island

So I just got to ACT 2 and holy crap!!! You thought map was big in the resort.....just wait till you see the new map. (FYI: only at 29% main plot progress). Loving this game. Too bad I'm redboxing it but I was testing it out cause I don't have the money to buy it and I haven't been able to put it down the last 2 nights. Will definitely have to buy it sometime when the price drops.

Re: Dead Island

well I am another redbox that plans on picking it up now...it was REALLY hard to stop playing ...but I want to wait to do this with friends...

This is more Fallout than Borderlands...other than the coop, I really don't see the Borderlands comparison.....

I was expecting a mess of a game, but I find it to be WAY more polished than reviews had me thinking...

Re: Dead Island

Finally starting to see some decent loot once I made it to Chapter 3. I saw three blue drops in about 10 minutes, where before I've only seen one blue, and it was a quest reward.

I'm loving this game, although it does have some issues. My only real complaint right now is the severe lack of guns, which I'm guessing will get better as I progress. It just kind of sucks playing the "guns expert" when I've only gotten one shitty white gun as a quest reward, with a single bullet.

does your rage tree give you unlimited bullets during the rage?

Re: Dead Island

I'm still doing side quests for the Lighthouse and even the Lifeguard Tower. It's almost like you don't won't to move on because you feel like you're missing getting something done. You are given lots of freedom to roam and it seems there's something you can do.

You pull out a different gun during Rage. I think it has a limited amount of bullets however, because there have been a few points where I'm clicking but the gun doesn't fire, after I fired off a bunch of shots.

Rage is awesome though, I always save it for when I come across some thugs. Kills them really quick.

since I am playing a blunt weapons dude..thugs were sort of pissing me off at first...until I realized how important limb breaking was...jump in...dodge his swing...aim for the arm he is swinging or his leg...then just circle him and take him out...

this game is so good....

Re: Dead Island

They got really easy once I modified my blue bat, now almost every hit causes them to stumble around a bunch.

First one I faced I had real issues with, I couldn't really hit him at all, so I finally just started throwing all my weapons at him, he had like 10 weapons stuck in him or laying near him, until I was out of weapons and was screwed...

Yes, this game is awesome. It has issues, but the fun factor is crazy high.

Re: Dead Island

I came really close to buying this at Kmart last night but couldn’t pull the trigger. By the time I get around to playing it, I know it will dip below $40 a couple times by then. Hopefully there are people around here still playing through co op by then.

Re: Dead Island

Whatever you guys do, don't waste points on lock picking. The lockers have complete crap in them about 60% of the time, and the other 40% they have nothing at all. So pissed I wasted three points in it.

Re: Dead Island

Is anyone playing this solo? I know a lot of people went on about how borderlands is only fun in co-op. But i love playing borderlands solo. Is this the same case with Dead Island?

Re: Dead Island

So far most of my play is solo. I have one friend who is like three levels ahead of me while three others are closer to 8-10 levels. There's plenty to do solo so don't worry about it but just like Borderlands co-op it seems a bit more fun the little I've played it.

One of those friends siad he has two seperate characters going; one for solo and the other with a co-op friend which is the same level. He said when we do four player co-op it'll be best if we all start out with new characters and keep them just for that. i know with GOW3 around the corner i need to start moving faster.

I can't complete a side quest in Act 2 because what I need is inside a level 3 chest. :/

I am playing solo. I joined some random dudes game (to get the achievement) and he was running, then stopped and stared at me and didn't move for a minute straight.

So I left.

Re: Dead Island

I finally got some money saved up. For awhile there I was dying 100 times a quest and had nothing. At one point all my weapons were broken and I had 90 bucks to my name. Finally just decided it's stupid to kill every zombie I come across even though it's xp. I finished about 10 quests just running around act 2's city and avoiding zombies.

I kill every zombie I see and rarely die. Money is so easy to get, not sure how anyone could be broke.

Re: Dead Island

man...is this game sold out.

Target, Kmart, Walmart and 2 GameStop's near me are sold out online and in-store.

So glad I called the 1 GS near me and reserved the last copy. Walked in, there was another in front of me who asked "Dead Island for 360?", the guy asked if he was the one that called and I was right behind and said that was me.

he then called another GS local for the fella and they were out. The dejection on the guy's face was absolutely priceless.

i wonder if they underestimated the demand or something.

Re: Dead Island

It's definitely a "sleeper hit". I'm checking it out on Redbox this weekend to see if it warrants a purchase for me.

Re: Dead Island

I played some last night again with the help of "BJ". He helped doing some quests that was labled"hard" and knew what to do. I think his is where co-op play either with someone in your range or ahead of you really helps.

So if anyone is still around the Lighthouse area on side quest you're more than welcome to jump in on mine or need to do something particularly like "BJ" ...two or three headshots in a row...
