WTF? Are they pulling a semi-Lucas? I think they're doing this just to get attention. No way they're not going to include the original multiplayer, especially if it's two discs.

They're not going to do a multiplayer that is going to end up having to compete with Reach. The second disc will be like the second disc of ODST was in relation to Halo 3, it will launch as a multiplayer-only Reach and will have the new maps on the disc. Presumably they'll also be available as DLC for Reach, for those that don't want Halo Anniversary.

IGN: Halo Anniversary Supports Kinect
Microsoft confirmed its Halo: Combat Evolved remake for Xbox 360, dubbed Halo Anniversary, will utilize the Kinect motion camera.
Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer said in an interview with GameSpot: "As a first party we believe that Kinect will be important to all genres of games, be it racing games with Forza, combat games like Ryse -- even games like Halo Anniversary has Kinect integration."
When asked for comment, a Microsoft spokesperson said the Kinect functionality will "not affect the core gameplay experience" and is merely an additive feature.
"It's no surprise we're exploring ways Kinect can enhance game experiences in authentic and meaningful ways," a spokesperson told IGN. "The Kinect features we're exploring with 'Halo: Anniversary' are additive and will not affect the core gameplay experience or alter our mission of delivering a faithful recreation of the original game. That said we have nothing else to share just yet."

So they can't add Live to Halo:CE but they can waste time and resources for Kinect features?
Nice, MS, nice.

Yeah, since there is no online multiplayer the price on this one should drop fairly quickly. This might be the first Halo I don’t pick up on release day.

Probably in. For years I was a PC gamer (Civilization, Doom) and after a non-game spell got my first console specifically for Halo.

In this Q & A with some of the guys from 343i they confirm that CE:A will retail for $39.99.
Some other interesting stuff that's in the article:

Some other interesting stuff that's in the article:
- Campaign will only have 2-player Co-Op not 4.
- It will only be one disc not two.
- Only the 7 "new" maps will be on the disc, you can't play any of Reach's other maps from it.

I'm still not getting how it's Reach's multiplayer, but you can only play the 7 maps.
I guess it'll be a separate category of playlists

Why not just pack in a DLC code for the map pack to avoid juggling two discs for multiplayer? Could they have jacked this release up any more? Jeez.

They also mention that it'll "eventually" be available on the Marketplace as DLC to people that don't want to buy CE:A.

In a very un-gamer like move, I just cancelled this $30 pre-order from New Egg in favor of keeping my $38 Kinect Disneyland Adventures preorder instead. I was looking forward to this game, but checking out the preview on Inside Xbox last night, it occured to me I've played three HD Halo games in the past three years and I've played Halo : CE. Do I really need to play Halo CE in HD? Probably not. I might pick it up eventually and while $30 wasn't that much to pay for this game, it just didn't seem like something I needed to pick up right now for me personally. I'm sure it's cool, but I think I'm suffering from some Halo burn-out right now.

I got caught in a wave of nostalgia while catching up on the last couple of issues of OXM and watching some of the preview videos so I ordered it the other day. The ability to push a button and compare what the revised version looks like to the old version is what really sold me (along with the online co-op MP).
One of the few times where it really does feel like 10 years has passed since I picked this up at launch a decade ago. Lot has happened in that time and I look forward to playing it all over again. I started a campaign on the old backwards compatible version but never finished it after I heard rumors this was coming.
So I understand completely...there is no online MP (other than campaign co-op), correct? But you have the old maps on there for playing either split screen or throwing in Reach and playing the maps with online there, correct?
And yes, Decker, I think you are crazy. $30 bucks for this beauty is nothing. I have bought shittier games that I played less for much more. Amazon still has this for $40 but includes a $10 future credit along with a couple of bonus downloads. http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Combat-Ev...1032134&sr=8-1

Yeah, if you're a semi-regular Halo player you really have to look at it as $15 for the single player and $15 for the map pack, which will be released on Tuesday(1200
) for those that don't want the full game.
