That's funny. I was just saying this tonight while we played BC2.

Re: Battlefield 3

Are those videos running off a console or a PC, because the footage looks almost photo-real, more so than any other console game.

Re: Battlefield 3

Thought you guys might like that.

I just hope the gameplay isn't too much of a departure from Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Re: Battlefield 3

New trailer. If the game turns out anything like the trailers, this could easily be GOTY material.

Looks fantastic. I'm glad you can be fully prone and you can crawl. Those are two things that were sorely lacking in BC2.

Re: Battlefield 3

Well this sucks.

We all knew it'd happen in some form or another: DICE has confirmed at the C2E2 conference in Chicago today the console versions of Battlefield 3 will see scaled down maps from their PC counterpart, at least partly to accommodate for the smaller player count.

Aircrafts will still be in, and will actually have larger flight zones versus on the PC where "out of bounds" zones will be in place. It's not confirmed how exactly this works at this stage, but presumably there will be more unused land and sea areas those in jets and such players will have to fly over, requiring roughly the same amount of distance to be covered as on PC for balance purposes.

On the upside, word from the show is the PS3 version is looking just lovely despite the advanced nature of the PC version we've been seeing in trailers. DICE have a history of keeping their titles on all platforms to a high standard, and it sounds like this case won't be any different.

Re: Battlefield 3

Meh. I'm getting this on PC so, unless I misread that post, this doesn't affect me in the slightest.

Re: Battlefield 3

as long as the maps are similar in size to Bad Company 2 on consoles, that doesn't bug me.

They're talking about the multi-player, which I couldn't care less about. I'll probably play a few rounds of the multi, but it'll be second fiddle to the campaign, sorta like what extras are to a movie on a dvd.

Same here. In fact, the largest maps in BC2 are my least favorite.

Not playing multi-player on a Battlefield game is like playing Bejeweled for the story. Wait, does that make sense?

Seriously, the multi-player has always been Battlefield's strongest selling point ever since the franchise started.

Re: Battlefield 3

Failed analogy attempt #2: Not playing multiplayer in a Battlefield game is like going to a 3D movie and never putting on the glasses.

That's part of my frustration with Warhawk. A team's only as good as the round and then it's all mixed up for the next game. At least, that's how it seems to this newbie. Of course, with both games, one can simply leave and find another server.
