Battlefield 3

Re: Battlefield 3
Getting my ass handed to me on the new maps. I only play support and I think they nerfed the LMGs during the last patch. I can be prone with a bipod and I can't compete with guys standing and shooting at me. Takes me half a mag, takes them a double tap. Moving over to the Assault class with the PDW-R is much more satisfying.

Haven't played muc lately. Have there been any further updates since the map pack? Some friends and I were still having problems with joining as a group or squad (Xbox). Orate those server side issues?

Re: Battlefield 3
so I finally picked this up...
Finished the SP today....
I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I heard a lot of negatives about it, but in the end it was a fun, though short, ride....
The quicktime events were not bad...I heard some people complaining about them...but in truth, the only way I could see someone messing them up is if they were drunk...they were super easy...and gave you plenty of time to hit the button...
The combat was very satisfying...especially the later levels....sure they tried to copy every game on the market...from call of duty..to even Rainbow Six at one point..but it was still fun...
The main problem was length...I played on HARD..which did NOT live up to its name...and finished in under 5 hours...I am not that upset because the coop and MP will make it worth it...
The biggest problem was the story.....pure shit...
coop next....

Here's a preview of the next map pack coming in June. Looks like some COD-style maps.

OK, thanks. I know sometimes EA likes to put expiration dates on their DLC codes that they include in their games. I haven't opened mine yet and wanted to make sure I don't miss the cut off date if there is one.

Re: Battlefield 3
Well I just finished the single player campaign last night and all I can say is wow, that was a blast. I thought the length was just about right, not too difficult and the varied locations were pretty cool. The audio was fantastic. Guns sounded real and felt like they actually had a weight to them. I only played a couple round in multiplayer but that seemed pretty fun too.
In short, I really wish I didn't get the MW3 Hardened Edition and put a little more time into this sooner. I haven't touched MW3 in months and now after playing this it's going to be very hard to go back.

Re: Battlefield 3
just completed the "Things go Boom" and "My Own Terminator" assignments tonight. Most satisfying to kill a couple of camping snipers with the EOD bot.
Particularly imagining the rage of one sniper after I got a Nemesis ribbon after killing him several times with the bot.
ps, if anyone plays PC, hit boomanchu2 up with a friend request.

After a long break I've been playing it every once in a while (PS3). Shumway plays now and then. Many of the PS3 gang who enjoyed BFBC2 tried BF3, didn't care for it as much, and have either splintered (bummer) or gone back to BFBC2 for the most part. You'd find a game with us there, easily.

Re: Battlefield 3
Yup...BC2 is much more fun than BF3...better maps, better destruction, better shooting, better balance.
I even like the graphics better in that they have an almost painted look to them, where the hyper realism of BF3 often makes things hard to see and is a little bit offputting (this part is likely a minority opinion).

Re: Battlefield 3
I just started playing about a week ago. So I might end up playing it for an hour or so one or two nights a week. If you see me playing online, feel free to shoot me an invite. Just a word of caution, I'm not very good yet.

Feel free to find me on PSN if you want to play. I have Karkand but not the Close Quarters thing.

Re: Battlefield 3
I try and play for a few hours a night depending on when the wife and kids sack out.
Edit: Should mention, although it's apparent in my location, that I am on the East Coast.
