Re: Battlefield 3

Last night I was playing Rush and it was the map where you are at the loading docks (can't remember the name). This group on the other team flew a helicopter above the big huge warehouse type thing and landed on top to where no one can get them. They just kept sniping people from that spot and it was infuriating. What happened to the Recon class being able to use the binoculars to call in an air strike? There was nothing we could do against them.

Re: Battlefield 3

That's a bummer. Were they defending or attacking? I wonder if using the M224 Mortar would do the trick. It launches on a parabolic arc, a sort of up-and-over sort of explosive, and is unlockable for the Support class after 40,000 points using that class.

There was no other perch on the same plane or higher to snipe back? Yikes!

I simply haven't seen the destructability in BF3 that was rampant in BFBC2, particularly in terms of bringing down buildings. Would be nice if you could've rocketed this one down. I know in BFBC2 there were warehouses that were impossible to bring down, even if one could blow its walls. Have to wonder, though, if there weren't ladders to the roof; the warehouses I've swept through so far have.

Re: Battlefield 3

I was trying to snipe back, but once one of them spotted me, all 4 would aim for me. None of my teammates seemed interested in taking them out either.

Re: Battlefield 3

That's probably the key. If the team isn't going to work as a team in a team-based game...

Another option that would probably take some high skill level is the MAV (like the UAV). Unlockable for Recon at 45,000 points with that kit, it says you can roadkill with it, put C4 on it to blow it up on the enemies, and right now it can lift up soldiers even though that will probably be patched.

Re: Battlefield 3

you just have to get in the habit of moving slowly. You can't run around as freely as in BC2. Especially in the 64 players matches. Someone is always watching. This game really rewards careful, slow, group movement.

Even when I do that, someone just sneaks behind me and shoots me down. From a tank, the air, or on foot. I'm totally doing this wrong.

Re: Battlefield 3

The problem with online is that other people are there and they tend to ruin things. Human nature.

Don't play online and your problem is solved!

Re: Battlefield 3

^^ I disagree when it comes to this game. Sure, there are the douche bags who are still all about racking up kills; but most games I get 6-7 kills but am top 3 in scoring because I play objective based. Even the idiots who are only out for kills are out of luck because the maps are so huge.

Re: Battlefield 3

The single player campaign in this game was a joke.

The multiplayer isn't much better. I love matchmaking so that as a level 1 player I'm up against nothing but level 20 and higher. A lot of fun.

Fuck this game.

Re: Battlefield 3

I'm surprised how many people are leveled up past 15 already. I rarely kill an opponent with a lower ranking than mine and I'm at 7 as of last night.

Re: Battlefield 3

Is there a trick to replenishing grenades? I've been playing with the support class and whenever I drop an ammo crate, the gun ammo replenishes fine but the grenades remain at zero. I've tried pressing reload. Aiming at the crate. Anything i can think of. Is there a timer or something before you can get another grenade? On the Grand Bazaar map, the middle checkpoint is a grenade frenzy. It always seems like I only have one and never get another one.

I kind of do the awkward back walking back and forth within the radius of the ammo box and eventually it will give me another grenade. This is generally if I've already reloaded my gun, etc.

Re: Battlefield 3

Grenades are done on a timing cycle. You have to stand near the crate for a good 20 seconds and it will replenish. The timing starts again right after you replenish, so if you toss that grenade 19 seconds in, you get a new one a second later. This prevents the grenade spam that plagues games like Halo.

There are timers for rocket ammo as well, but not as long.

Re: Battlefield 3

Thanks. I kinda figured there was a timer involved. I've been sticking with M320 for my grenade needs now. You can carry more and it seems to replenish pretty quickly with an ammo crate. Plus you can aim it much easier. Everytime I "throw" a grenade it tends to ricochet off any scenery that's near me and I end up blowing my own ass up.

Re: Battlefield 3

I often find blowing your own ass up with a grenade tends to be more humorous than frustrating at least.
