Amazon now has the Vita for 237.99 and a 50 dollar credit or 289.57 for the 3G version with a 50 dollar credit.

It's still showing 249.99 for me.

the 237.99 is a third party seller, the wifi is still 249.99. the 3g/wifi is third party too. Amazon's price is 299.99

You don't get the credit with 3rd party ones.

Sorry about that. I didn't notice that another seller took precedence over Amazon themselves. Still a good deal if you don't pay tax in your state on Amazon as it would save you about 20 bucks plus get the credit that you could use on a bigger memory card.

From Joystiq:

Scrape up some Escape Plan DLC for 25 cents on PSN

by Jessica Conditt Writer RSS (11 hours ago)

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.c...scape-plan.jpg
Escape Plan's most recent DLC pack, The Asylum, is $0.25 right now and for two more weeks on PSN. That's just one quarter or five nickels or one piece of one dollar bill ripped into four equal strips.

Today Patch 1.02 for Escape Plan goes live, PS Plus members get five free avatars, and the game demo is available for PS Vita users, on top of that DLC sale we mentioned up there. The Asylum introduces 18 new levels, seven new challenge modes and four trophies, with a story picking up where the primary game ends.

On June 26, The Asylum will revert to its natural state at $5 on the PSN store.

Has anyone played Gravity Rush yet? I picked up my pre-order at Best Buy this afternoon, but won't have a chance to try it until later tonight or tomorrow.

Disgaea 3 is $30 at both Amazon and Gamestop, and I think Gamestop also has Dynasty Warriors and Ninja Gaiden at that price.

I went ahead a bought a Vita for me and one for my brother yesterday. I got myself the WiFi, pouch, 8GB memory card, MGS HD Collection, Hot Shots and MLB 12. I got my brother the WiFi, 8GB memory card, pouch, WipEout and Ninja Gaiden. I got everything on sale game wise except for MGS HD. Pretty fun day yesterday.

What minis/PSN games would you guys recommend picking up? I am looking at Hustle Kings, Super Stardust Delta and a few others.

And Gamestop has MLB for that price also IIRC.

As someone else who recently got a Vita, I can recommend Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, Escape Plan, and Gravity Rush. I know that Escape Plan and Gravity Rush both have demos, so I'd suggest giving those a shot. Not sure if there's a demo for Mutant Blobs Attack - I bought that blind based on the developer's earlier (and very similar) PSN game, About a Blob, which I really enjoyed.

Tales From Space is very good.

I Highly suggest Super Stardust Delta. It's a magnificent game and well worth the $10 (the DLC content, on the other hand is probably pretty much skipable). I brought a bunch of games with me on the plane my last flight and ended up just playing SSDD the whole flight.

Someone got Left 4 Dead working on their vita using a vpn login from his vita to his computer. He supposedly has no lag on it either

Anyone else get Gravity Rush yet? I picked it up for a recent vacation and really like it. It's a cute, Japanese-y Action RPG in the vein of Kingdom Hearts, but with an open world and such a fun "flight" mechanic to navigate around. I haven't played much, but I'm enjoying it and think it's the best game for the system so far. It helps that it's one of the first Vita-exclusives and feels really original and not like a port of a superior game.

I think it's free right now with Vita purchase on Amazon.

I like Gravity Rush, I think it makes good use of the system's features, but it also confirms, to me, at least, that most of the Vita's motion features and extras are kinda unwieldy. I think I would've been fine if they just designed the Vita as a dual thumbstick PSP with better graphics.

That, plus this should have been a launch title... though I understand why they delayed it, there's just not a lot of software coming out for it right now.

Not to threadcrap but I totally regret my Vita purchase. I haven't even touched the damn thing in two months and have no desire to do so. I think I'm going to hold onto it and eventually give it to my 4 year old -- maybe in a year or so but I wish I had the 300 bones back.

I've been using mine to catch up on PSP RPG's I never got to play. Just picked Persona 3 during the sale and am enjoying it quite a bit. Although, it would be nice if some actual Vita titles that are worth playing would be released.

I think they're simply in an odd spot, if they just released a better Xperia Play there'd really be no need for this system at all.

Just curious, but why are you disappointed? Besides the cost and lack of new games, I mean. I think the system is great. It has wonderful dual-stick controls, can play just about any type of game, the screen is glorious -- Rayman looks better than on the HDTV in my opinion. The battery life is good as well -- lasted the entire flight to Hawaii. The online features work well, if I'm still a little fuzzy on what exactly Near is for. There are very few games that use a cross-platform save, but that has potential to be a really cool feature going forward. Really, the Vita is everything I could want in a system. Even though I don't travel much at all, I love being able to play console-caliber games during my lunch break. I actually haven't touched my 3DS at all since getting the Vita.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

The hardware is excellent but it'll die a quick death if developers don't start making quality titles for it. I picked up Lego Batman 2 thinking it would be the same open-world game as the consoles; it ended up being a port of the 3DS release with horrendously compressed cut scenes. That'll be the last time I blind buy a game for it without seeing some reviews first. Intense FPS's aside, I see no reason why many console releases couldn't get a straight port to the Vita. It's certainly powerful enough.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

Well, the 3DS is also a disappointment to me... again, i would've been happy with an improved DS (with dual sticks), and unlike the Vita the battery life is crappy enough that I don't even want to play DS games on it. Of course, a lot of my favorite games on the DS use the stylus sparingly, and some are mainly just upgrades of older games.

Even though I got the 3G version, I still haven't activated it, and I have no idea why anyone would spend the money to do so. Like Decker, I don't really understand Near at all. I will say that some of the launch titles like Rayman, Wipeout, etc. are great, and I wouldn't mind seeing more ports and more dual PS3/Vita releases like MLB. But I wonder how much cheaper this would have been without the gimmicks. Right now, the only Vita title I'm looking forward to is Persona 4, which is another port... anything else coming out in the next few months?

Decker 07-31-12 04:12 PM

Persona 4 and the new Assassin's Creed Liberation game are all that I have pre-ordered at this point.

I might get LBP Vita if the reviews are good, but I'm kinda burned out on LBP right now.

I'm sure Sly 4 and Battle Royale will be fine for the Vita, but I'm looking forward to the PS3 versions (though I might grab both if there's an enticing deal on a combo pack).

Has anyone else been trying this debacle of a PSOne launch? I loaded up FF7 and the screen is horribly letter-boxed. Does anyone know if there's a way to stretch the image to fit the screen?

Decker 08-30-12 09:52 AM

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

While I was forced to update to the newest version, I haven't tried the PSOne stuff yet. But that sounds annoying. I hadn't heard about problems with emulation, but here is an article in Joystiq that talks about how they screwed up the PS One launch in relation to available games for download.

Noonan 08-30-12 09:57 AM

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

Yeah, it was a mess. The store didn't update until either very late that night or the next day. Since I had downloaded FF7 on my PS3 a long while back, I was able to use the backdoor method to get it on my Vita by selecting it from the previously downloaded section in the store.

If all games display the same way (very small box, taking up maybe 50% off the Vita screen), then this was all a big waste IMO. I checked the system settings to see if the new software added a section relating to PS1 games but there was nothing new.

I might finally jump on the vita with the Assassins Creed bundle...

I also have a lot of RPG games I missed that I would love to catch up on...

I'm now downloading my Hot Shots Golf 2 PS One Classic (a PS+ freebie). When I come back from work, I'll let you know what it looks like for me.
