Just dl it earlier tonight (with no issues, only took 15 mins....it's good to wait out the storm). Gonna wait until tomorrow to settle down and really get some good play time before heading out.

I'm glad that I held off purchasing the other two DLC earlier and was able to buy the Undead bundle. I haven't touched this game since the end of August but I'm ready to play this once more.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

Undead Nightmare is great. Got pretty far into last night. I loved what they named the sasquatch hunting missions which is "Six years in the making" - wonder how many people will know this is because of accusing Rockstar Games of placing them in GTA III or San Andreas when they didn't.

The game just has an awesome atmosphere and those close up zombie attacks and kills you pull off on them couldn't have been done better (gun to the chin anyone? Torch poke to the head.....awesome).

I'd have to say the only thing that pisses me off is that they basically made a game off fetch missions....normally this would be enough to turn me off but they did it so well here that it doesn't really bother me too much but I did roll my eyes.

Multiplayer was excellent too - only me an one other person were on so we started a game.....we made it to level 10 before we both died at the same time - it was nuts.

I think I'm finally opening up to this game. This cool girl at Gamestop has recommended the game to me a few times.

it really is amazing. i never played an open world game and just thought the production value, gameplay, authenticty and especially voice acting, animal effects and overall sound effects were so phenomenal. GotY in my opinion. truly an action game with emotion and heart and it shows. the years that went into it @ Rockstar really paid off.

I finished the main story in Undead Nightmare last night. Excellent add-on, with a healthy dose of humor.

I hope Rockstar puts out more single-player DLC like this. Not interested in the multiplayer "packs".

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

I just finished it tonight. Couldn't stop laughing at the
Spoiler:
songs
they used during the
Spoiler:
train sequence
and
Spoiler:
on the way to Reyes
I can't believe how the game ends as well - hilarious.

I am very impressed with this DLC...thought I would find it to be just average - I will be buying the liars and cheats with the Undead Nightmare disc when it's released as well.

So you already bought the Undead Nightmare DLC for 10 bucks, and now you're going to buy the disc version for 30 as well? You know that you can buy a bundle of all 3 DLC packs for 20, right?

Yeah but I want the "tangible" in this case.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

Wow. Undead Rundown is a really fun mode when you've got someone else that knows how to escape the horde. Any time we got in trouble we sprinted to the other player. It's much easier, clearly, to pick off the zombies chasing someone else. No turning and locating, etc. Got a few gold medals before I had to bail.

Too bad you don't get any XP for it. Pretty sure my Lvl 45 bar didn't budge after six or seven games.

You get 1000 XP for a Gold Medal, and I think 500 for a Silver. Also there are challenges you can complete during the game that also reward you with XP. I'm also at level 45, and I actually managed to level once playing nothing but undead overrun (this was during the double XP weekend though).

Did you manage to reach wave 15 and get the trophy? I think the highest I've made it yet playing with randoms was wave 11. After wave 10, it's ridiculous the amount of time they give you before it goes to sudden death.

I picked up quite a few levels playing "Undead Rundown" on the double XP weekend. Once you get the hang of things and get a good team dynamic going it's pretty easy to get Gold on every stage.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

I haven't done it yet, but the trick to getting wave 15+ is to dumb down your targeting. Casual targeting means every shot is a head shot, you just won't get scored or medals.

Expert targeting is good for the medals, xp, and leaderboards. We can consistently get to wave 10 or 11, but the time just kills us (10 seconds to find, get to, and open the coffin? Are you serious?!).

I'm not sure what other targeting options there are. Next time we play, we'll be going for the achievement with hand-holding targeting.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

A couple other things to note:

* Several of the levels have areas where you can climb up and can't be touched by anything but the spitters. These can be a double-edged sword, as you'll run out of time waiting for the undead to come to you, but it's good to have a couple long range guys up high and a couple medium ranged runners down below.
* Head shot is not required to bring down the undead in this mode, but it sure helps.
* When time is running out, bait + dynamite will increase the counter quickly.

I was playing with normal targeting, which automatically locks on, but isn't a headshot, and I was getting XP. Does casual really automatically lock onto a headshot?

Nope. We never got to 15. It was just me and this other guy. We managed to get to 11 a couple of times and 12 once. If it's 1000 XP for a Gold that amount really just doesn't register on my bar.

We need to get the band back together for some UO. Plus I need to poach some of those trophies I missed out on when we were boosting after the second pack.

That's what I hear. I've been playing with Expert since the beginning because of that achievement/trophy. I never turned it off.

I took a break from this for a while, but I came back and finished up the last few missions, only to discover that I have to spend the rest of the game...

Spoiler:
Herding cows?!

Is this some kind of fucking joke?

Seriously. Can we start ban-hammering anyone coming in here complaining about about the "herding cows" ending?

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

That ending only happens if

Spoiler:
you aren't quick enough to put a bullet in Bill's head yourself. If you let him leap to his own death, you have to go through the extra crap to get to the ending.

So, it's your own damn fault.
