Finally beat the game in story mode and it took me about 3 1/2 weeks to do. Awesome ass game and according to my save data I'm still only 85% complete, so I figure the rest are side missions and item recovery stuff that I never finished.
I guess I'm going to explore and see if I can knockout a couple of these quests before I move on to another game. Man, Sadie Adler was badass.

is this one as addicting as the first, once you get passed the sludge of an intro?

For what it's worth... looks like RDR got re-rated in South Korea so folks are speculating a remastered version of this game might be announced/released soon.
Not sure if it would a remaster for PS5 and Xbox or a port for the Switch.

Interesting reveal after the Leaked Docs.....which according to them M.S thought the Remastered would be out October 2022.....and as yet per article, no-one even knows if at all it's still in the works which is a crying shame......

I’m still intimidated in going full throttle into this game. I don’t know why either. Maybe the sludge of an opening. I don’t think I got that far. But, I loved the shit out of the first. Only game I have ever and will ever 100% in my life. So, yeah I loved it. Tried to start it up again, but after playing so much I was still just burnt out and couldn’t get going. Maybe I’ll get to this one day. I hope to give it a real shot anyway.

I tried giving this game a second chance earlier this year. I was hoping the issues I had with it the first time were things I could look past. Got through the prologue and to camp. Was just exploring the world and got caught in a gun fight with some randoms. I survived but they killed my horse. No fast travel available and I was in the middle of nowhere. Only option I knew of was to literally walk back to camp or a train station. That was the end of my 2nd chance playthrough.

Funny thing is, I never really completed the actual story...got the game after some friends did, got to the point where it opened up coop and never went back....because the coop part was way to fun doing all the quests and side stuff.......this is another great, fun, solid past game that has crept into our conversations about Returning to Games of Past....Fallout 76(getting a huge DLC Pack in December) and Elder Scrolls Online with a huge update to improvements and new 2-Player Dungeon coming soon......I know the first one was awesome but frankly RD2 should've got the Remastered/Upgrade for Nex Gen, ....

I’m about 24 hours in, and so far I’ve
-helped raid a train
-busted someone out of jail
-helped out a differently abled family then watched them put on a vaudeville show
-been robbed by pig farmers
-covered hundreds of miles of territory
-been mangled by wolves and alligators
-been killed by many road gangs
I’m clearing a lot of ground but there doesn’t seem that much to do. The side missions are fine when I find them, but the major mission at this point seems buried deep in Wanted Dead or Alive territory. I don’t have enough power or savvy to take on the gang hideouts I find. Online sources say to not rush it and just let it develop, but it’s hard to feel any sense of progress.

I know this game is revered as one of the best ever... but it felt tedious and frustrating to me. I found the travel feature to be insanely cumbersome and the controls were lacking. I appreciated the overall story, but this game doesn't make my personal top 10.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18
I finally finished this over the weekend. It takes me ten forevers to finish any game nowadays and I am always 5 years or so behind.
I just keep taking way too much time to finish this one or starting other games in the middle of it. I was around 50% done and finally barreled through the main story missions over the course of the entire week and weekend to get it done.
I did not play the epilogue yet because I am burnt out on it and still pissed that
So, is the epilogue worth the time and effort? I hate to say it, but it had been SOOOOO long since I played and finished Red Dead Redemption that I didn't even make the connection of John Marston until I was reading about RDR2 after finishing it. I had read long ago that RDR2 tied into RDR, but I stayed away from almost everything to be spoiler free and totally missed the connection due to my poor memory. Now that I read about and sort of remember you chasing your old gang down in RDR, I almost want to go back and replay that, dammit.
I remember really liking RDR and John way back when, but I definitely feel like I enjoyed the Arthur character more.
Anyway, this is an amazing game, but I do agree that a lot of the complaints are justified. I never was good at hunting and got killed all the time because of the damn controls and trying to preserve the pelts. Fishing fucking sucks and is a pain in my ass. I loved the Dead Eye mode, but standard combat always felt clumsy. I hit more wrong buttons and did more wrong things that I want to do. I can't you how many times I went to fistfight someone and shot the person dead in the face. Oops. Another fucking bounty.
The world itself is amazing and beautiful. I recently got a new TV and was playing it at 120fps in 4K and it was stunning to look at.

I asked a friend who's a better gamer than I am, and he said the key to advancing in the game is to collect money via fishing, robbery, etc. That sounds pretty annoying.

I rarely fished or robbed, proceeded through the game fine, and ending up thinking this was the best game I've ever played.
