Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I will buy 2 of those tracks out of general principle.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I'm waiting for them to release Track Pack 3.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Exciting times!
In an ideal world, we'd get a current gen update, and the game would be treated as a platform (compatible with prior purchased DLC) instead of a stream of retail sequels that screw up the licenses. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
They couldn't even do that with Dance Central, at least for the on-disc tracks. Maybe the Rock Band DLC tracks were licensed properly for the future, but I wouldn't count on it. Not that it matters since the instruments would be incompatible, at least the wireless ones.
Still, having a karaoke app with a USB microphone would be nice. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Whatever happens with a next gen Rock Band will no doubt let some of us down. Instruments or song catalogs won't be compatible (or both). But still, I would buy it all again.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Yep. I need a wooden strat all over again.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Three years and these are the best they could do? :sarcasm: Where's Cake?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
That is incredibly weird. It's sort of a huge announcement...and sort of not.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I guess they mention on the podcast that there will be more DLC in the future. It won't be weekly, but maybe monthly or every other week.
There should be another announcement later this week. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I suspect this is a test for things to come.
A) Get the fans worked up with some DLC now. B) Announce a RB BLITZ sequel that works with current and next gen consoles sometime this year. C) Then announce the next RB platform for release during Holiday 2016. Blitz gets people playing again and avoids any instrument issue and should allow people to move their DLC to new consoles ahead of time if they so choose. Or not. |

I like where this is heading! |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
If you didn't put DLC compatibility as your #1 priority, you are doing it wrong.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Yep, especially since I selected 700+ as my DLC count.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
The real issue isn't going to be compatibility for the software but for the licensing.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I took it as compatibility included licensing...
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Really? Were you not around for the "errors" in certain DLC tracks because they weren't "programmed for the PS3 correctly"?
There was a confusing amount of logic in those files that should have just been audio tracks, note timings, and stage directions. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Well no... I played it on the 360.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Yup. It happened there too.

Rocksmith DLC all carried over from one gen to the next (360=>One, PS3=>PS4), although they couldn't cross generations (so no 360=>PS4). LittleBigPlanet 3 for the PS4 could carry over DLC costumes from the Vita and PS3. Hopefully Harmonix can pull off the same. Technically, it's obviously possible. I guess it depends on how the licensing was worded. I don't know why there'd be a meaningful difference between, say, Rock Band Blitz and Rock Band 4. The console has changed, yeah, but the "platform" hasn't. Still songs users bought/paid for in the same ecosystem. FWIW, Alex Rigopolous said a while back: Quote:
