I'll guess "Instant Karma" by John Lennon.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Until I come to my senses (because it will never happen), I will say the Beatles' Abbey Road suite, which ends with "The End". That would be really cool if Harmonix could secretly score a deal to export that song or reauthored it as new DLC with keys.

I will just use that as a placeholder until I can think of a more realistic answer.

I'll guess "End of the Line" by The Traveling Wilburys (even though there are no keys on that track).

That Workaholics clip inspired my pick in a different way -

The Load Out/Stay - Jackson Browne

Supermallet - To the End by Blur
Kelkee - Paradise City by GnR
Mr. Music - Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds
To this day it still haunts me that I accurately predicted "Give It Away" and "Spoonman" for RBB and I didn't get any credit for it because I didn't claim my dibs or whatever. So I guess I'll make it official.

About those two guesses : I think they wouldn't have counted anyway. We were trying to guess which of the millions of potential songs might be added to the Rock Band library, not which of the six excluded Rock Band 2 songs would now be made available for export. That's a different thing entirely, and much easier to guess.

So be haunted no more.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Good stuff after reading the official RB forums.

The last week will be the one song and no pro upgrade for it. I'm going to hold of on my prediction till a few days before so if anyone wants Paradise City go for it.

Instruments. If you want them you need to contact MadCatz. Apparently they recently made batch of drums since they had so many requests and pre orders. Looking at their site now and they are running sales on RB3 kits and such.

Last time we got swept up in a big DLC song announcement (the most requested dlc ever!!!) and made guesses... we got Rick Astley.

Oh ... another thing is don't count on post RB3 DLC sale. They don't have one planned and apparently it took 6-9 months to get the existing sale finalized.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Okay, I'm going to ditch my Beatles guess. They're obviously ending DLC for financial reasons, so I doubt they'd plunk down the extra cash to fly over the London to author the medley. (Prove me wrong, Harmonix!) Someone else can have it.

I'm changing my guess to Don McLean's "American Pie". It's been in GH, but would be new to RB, so there's rhythm game precedent. Keys are in the song. The long version would be an epic length to go out on. Plus there's that whole nostalgic "The Day the Music Died" thing.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

95% certain that you guys have already guessed the final song. I remember reading/hearing somewhere (don't remember exactly) that one of those songs was coming soon, and it makes for a fitting "end" track, I guess.

It's not something I would ever want as an end track, but it seems like the kind of song HMX would use as one.

This is kind of bittersweet to read. Nice to know we're on the right track, but bummed to know there's little point for others to guess.

So, RBN for PS3 is essentially dead per the FAQ. I wonder of 360 RBN will start folding up shops or if we'll see an increased demand for it since all the big names have to go through that as well now. We know for sure that Pro Guitar/Bass is dead since RBN tools don't allow for it.

There is the 5% chance I'm wrong.

I don't have an inside track to things anymore, if that means anything.

I've read that some of the RBN creators are packing it up once their subscriptions end, but others are going to stick around. We'll have to take a wait and see approach, I guess.
