Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I think the DLC since the release of RB3 has been pretty much outstanding. There's been a few weeks that I didn't care for, but overall it's been pretty awesome. It's too bad that Rock Band isn't as popular as it was a year or two ago. I feel like I'm picking up new songs every week... and there's hardly anyone to play with online anymore. Or maybe I'm just on the wrong platform (PS3).

Do songs ever expire from the RBN or the marketplace? I saw that there was a Gang of Four song available while browsing one of the song tracker websites, but it's not showing up in the RB3 store or Xbox Marketplace. Googling it I found the song listed for sale, but I can't complete the purchase:

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...0-000045410869

I get to the confirmation page, but when I click "Confirm" I just get:

"Sorry
This offer is not valid in your region, or it has expired."

No "Soul to Squeeze" again? Pass. Give me back "Give it Away".

Didn't we lose Dani California too? I want back both songs dammit.

If I'm the one breaking the news to this forum, then things are bad.

I've been AWOL lately due to work. And a little personal side-project I've been working on. I tend to forget about you people.

I'm not sure when the last time I even played a game was...

Ha. I'm nerdy enough that I was checking the rockband.com forums at 10 AM Eastern on the dot to look for the update, and then I came here to see what people were saying about it. No one had posted, and I figured, "yeah, I don't care enough about Incubus to post the news either".

 I thought the same thing when I posted the RHCP news.

Yeah, that was my attempt at a joke. I miss the days when they didn't take themselves so seriously. (I will probably get a few of these for when friends are over.)

Soul to Squeeze would be cool. I'd probably go for the whole Mother's Milk album or Uplift Mofo Party Plan.

Sarcasm is tricky online and when your post can be reasonably assumed to be sincere you're on thin ice. If you'd said you thought one of the new songs was a pre-BSSM track I would have believed it.

I doubt we'll ever get anything pre-Warner Bros. and if so I doubt they'd go back any further than "Mother's Milk". Harmonix's R.E.M. licensing spanned 3 record labels (Universal, EMI/Capitol and Warner Bros.) in a single pack but it goes without saying that there really isn't a consistent interest across the RHCP catalog. Frusciante stuff will always be the most popular, the new stuff has the benefit from being new, the bandmembers themselves pretty much ignore entire eras of the band etc.

The fact that "Can't Stop" wasn't included makes me think they aren't done with RHCP.

I want "Warped" so bad. That's one of the few RHCP songs I actually crave. "Aeroplane" would be fun, but more for a party.

The bulb on my lcd tv blew and the temp replacement is smaller and throws me off. Only gotten to drum 2 songs in the last month. Will be getting the replacement bulb and the incubus pack (along with a lot of others I've missed) in a few weeks.

Agree that Aeroplane would be a blast at parties.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe things will change now post-John, but One Hot Minute pretty much doesn't exist to the band. They never played a single song off the album live after John came back. And only one song from OHM even made it to their greatest hits album, and even that surprised me.

They continued to play "Pea" every now and then. And by "they" I mean Flea did.

John? John isn't a very hot chili pepper name.

But Anthony and Chad are? Josh? Jack? Dave? Cliff? Hillel?

It isn't U2 where half the band has silly names and the other half has real names. There's one guy with a weird nickname out of like a dozen people who have played in the band.

Are Andy and Stewart not very Policey names?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I've at least heard of Anthony and Chad and Flea and Dave and Bono and Edge and Larry and Adam and Andy and Stewart. Whatever, maybe it would have made more sense to explain what a "post-John" era even means.

So next week is just a 3-pack, right? But it's also PAX Prime week. Think there'll be any surprise and/or free tracks released or has that ship sailed? Because, I really want this:

<iframe width="400" height="100" style="position: relative; display: block; width: 400px; height: 100px;" src="http://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/v=2/track=1892531248/size=venti/bgcol=FFFFFF/linkcol=4285BB/" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0"><a href="http://music.mikephirman.com/track/w00tstock-feat-chris-hardwick-paul-and-storm">w00tstock (feat. Chris Hardwick &amp; Paul and Storm) by Mike Phirman</a></iframe>

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
Well I came upon some dudes in cloaks
They were sitting off on their own
And I asked one, "Tell me what's that you're rolling?"
This he showed me

Said, "It's just like dice but it's got more sides
And it tells me who lives and who dies
Now I've got to get back into this land and set my troll free

We are archers
We are ogres
We are skilled in killing goblins
And we've got to get our elves out of the darkness

Then I went by movie theater
There were girls camped out in line
I asked, "Why?"
They said, "We're in line for the Avengers"
I said, "Wait, that's not out til next year"
They said, "Yeah, we know but we're still here...
plus we hear next week they'll leak a sneak preview trailer!"

We are Sauron
We are Gozer
We are building Dumbledore's Army
And we are the "who" in "Who Watches the Watchmen?"

We are Warcraft
We are Portal
We are still playing Lego Star Wars
And we've got two turtle shells revolving around us

By the time we got to w00tstock
We had half a million blogs
On everything from Tron to Japanimation
And there may not be real hoverboards yet or freeways up in the sky
But at least there's Xbox LIVE, Wii, and PlayStation.

We are Starbuck
We are Vulcan
We are part of the rebel alliance
And we're the Doctor himself up in the TARDIS

Oh... I get it! Well, maybe if he had a cool name like "John" you'd be more passionate about it.
