The new "Billy Joel Piano Challenge" pack includes six Billy Joel songs that represent some of the most challenging keyboard play yet seen in the game. The songs are entirely new to Rock Band 3, and distinct from the Billy Joel tracks that released late last year.

The new pack includes the following six songs, all of which will release on March 22nd for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

• "I Go to Extremes"
• "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)"
• "My Life"
• "Prelude/Angry Young Man" X
• "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant"
• "She's Always a Woman"

The whole pack will run you $9.99, or you can get each song individually for $2 apiece. As denoted by the "X", "Prelude/Angry Young Man" also has available pro guitar/pro bass support for an extra $0.99.

Never can have too much Joel.

Truth.

I was pleasantly surprised at the guitar work in the first pack. I need to give these a spin today and see if they will be decent for guitarists.

Nice. Knew a second, harder set of Joel was coming, so figured Prelude/Angry was there, but didn't know it would be six tracks. Bye bye 800 points.

Re: Uptown Girl. Billy doesn't like that song any more. He almost never plays it in concert any more and left it off the newest greatest hits collection. Just The Way You Are as well.

Uptown Girl is just a bunch of clapping anyway.

The only one I'm meh about is "I Go To Extremes". The rest are entirely

I wonder if they could ever release the "Angry Young Booey" song from Howard Stern... that would be brilliance...

I love that one. Side note, he plays the piano with his ass on that one in concert, or used to. Please, no recreations needed.

I just was thinking about that version myself. I think they just played a bit of it recently while Baba was getting the business yet again...

I bought the first Billy Joel's pack and I'll buy this one too even though I was hoping that we get "A Matter of Trust".

Any chance the original Billy Joel pack will be discounted with the release of the new one? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Not gonna happen.

I just watched a 2008 interview with him and I think it's not that he doesn't like it, it's that he can't sing it anymore. It was done as a kind of play on Frankie Vallie and he can't hit those notes anymore.

I'd love Summer Highland Falls too, will definitely get this pack. Hope they can fit one more in...so many great songs.

Well shit, that doesn't mean we can't sing it.

I assumed he'd written it off because of the ties to Brinkley.

Apparently they have finally updated the RB Music Store app to include RB3 and RBN stuff

Man, it took me about 15 seconds of repeating "RB Music Store app" to myself in various inflections and readings to figure out what you were talking about.

I forgot all about that what with the timely playthrough charts and convenient XBLM.

Good to know their time is being well-spent.

No, you're right. I'm just saying it was so far removed from my memory that I couldn't place it. You were spot-on ;)

He doesn't sing An Innocent Man because it's out of his range. Uptown Girl might be as well, but that doesn't explain why it's off the HITS album, when it's clearly one of his biggest hits. It may have something to do with Christie, but they're really good friends still (she's all over his Last Play At Shea documentary). I think it's just a song he doesn't like anymore.
Now Just The Way You Are is a song that brings back to many bad memories to him of his first wife (who was previously his best friend's first wife). He just feels that playing that song feels phony and he won't do it almost ever.

I did see him do Uptown Girl in concert for a Valentine's show a few years back. He preceded the show saying it's not a song they normally play but would for this date. I've NEVER seen him do Just The Way You Are, and I've seen him many, many times.

I've also heard/read that he hates "Honesty" as well.

Looking at the amazon comments for the HITS album, there seem to be a few songs people think are missing, and there is speculation that this was just put out by the studio with little direct involvement from Joel.

The interview I saw had him use this as an example of songs that are technically difficult for him to do, and he went on a bit about the inspiration for the style of the song too.

Did I miss the news about RBN2.0's launch? Apparently the Anamanaguchi track "Airbrushed" is available for purchase. Links aren't published yet, so if it's available it must just be from within the game.

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pf4zGAjeRFY&rel=0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pf4zGAjeRFY&rel=0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

If it's true, it's kind of underwhelming after the massive ordeal RBN's original launch was.

Actually, Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" came out as the first RBN2.0 track late last week.

I guess there have been some issues with the pipeline (evidenced by Blue being stored in the RB2 directory), so we won't see the flood of stuff for another week or so, more than likely. That flood also won't be anything near what we saw at the beginning of RBN1.0 or the end when they were cleaning house.
