Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I finally found a Best Buy with the Squier. My low E string constantly registers strums after it's been plucked. If I palm mute the string, it's fine. I've found people with the opposite problem (low E doesn't register at all), but not this one. Yes, the mute bridge is up. Any suggestions? :/

Have you tried adjusting the pickup or the string height?

There aren't a ton of answers, but Harmonix answered some questions asked by RockBandAide, http://www.rockbandaide.com/11927/ha...ns/#more-11927

RBA: With MTV out of the picture, is there any chance of future Beatles DLC? What about a Beatles export into Rock Band?

JD: To reiterate, MTV not being in the picture doesn’t change any of our DLC relationships (for better or for worse). We still haven’t announced anything re: more Beatles DLC or Beatles export at this time, though we know the fans are hungry for more great content from The Fab Four. Almost as much as Muse.

we haven’t announced another Rock Band title for 2011 at this time.
Hmmm...

(That may or may not mean anything, but all the interviews I've read where RB4 is mentioned are carefully worded to not rule out another game by the end of 2011.)

RBA: Muse?

JD: My muse when I’m working on games is writing to fans who ask the same questions over and over, as if there is only one band in the universe capable of being a fun experience on a rhythm action instrument simulation game.

Probably not Rock Band related, but you never know...

http://www.industrygamers.com/news/h...ncement-at-e3/

Rock Band studio Harmonix has been through some interesting times. The guitar music genre has been in steep decline, prompting Viacom/MTV to sell off the studio, but the dancing market has been taking off. Harmonix has certainly taken advantage of that and the motion field with Dance Central for Kinect, but what's next? We'll have to wait until E3 to find out.

Greg LoPiccolo, VP of Product Development at Harmonix, recently teased big news while speaking with IndustryGamers.

"We’ll have at least one bit of significant news at E3," he told us. We followed up by asking him if it's a brand-new IP or an extension of the Rock Band or Dance Central franchises. Naturally, he wouldn't divulge any further information. "It would be a small price to tell you what it might be, but I appreciate your efforts in that regard," he answered.

That said, Harmonix boss Alex Rigopulos has previously noted that his studio remains very interested in motion gaming. "...we're incredibly creatively motivated by motion gaming," he said in February, adding that Harmonix has "significant resources" devoted to new IPs.

LoPiccolo reiterated the studio's interest in motion gaming to us. "I guess one thing that a lot of people don’t remember is that we sort of did a little foray back in - I think - 2004 when we did Antigrav for EyeToy, which was really fun to develop and we were really happy with the outcome. We learned a lot about sort of the strengths and challenges of motion gaming even at that point, a lot of which we directly applied to the Dance Central development process," he said.

"I think that we see opportunities in motion gaming that we might be uniquely equipped to pursue and so I think we are broadening our scope a little bit in terms of the studio focus to not only encompass music gaming, but also motion gaming, and that may manifest in a lot of different ways. Right now, we actually we have a number of different teams hard at work on different concepts which has been super entertaining and just a lot of fun to work on brand new IP. At some point, some of that stuff will hopefully see the light of day," LoPiccolo continued.

LoPiccolo also didn't rule out supporting motion platforms other than Kinect. "We’re pretty impressed with Kinect as a platform and we’ve had good success out of the gate with it, but we’re certainly not blind to the opportunities that the Wii and the Move present," he stated.

U2 Rock Band? -pray-

I'm not sure why they include the Wii when they talk about the opportunities that are there for motion control. If they were so excited, why haven't they done anything with it in the last 4+ years? Meanwhile, Kinect got a game right at the start.

Oh, and a TOTAL waste of pro guitar. I mean Edge vs. David Gilmour? No contest, lads.

Prince Rock Band or I'm eating Groucho's Tuna Club Sandwich. The man's got everything, keys, pro guitar up the wazoo, awesome vocals, crazy visuals. They could pack in a guitar in the shape of his symbol. DLC includes Sinead O'Connor's cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U." Seriously, it's a no brainer.

I'm pretty sure Prince has said hell no to ever being in any guitar based games.

I am not a big Prince fan, but a Prince Rock Band game would be awesome.

rotfl Have we learned nothing in 4 years? "Exciting announcement" to Harmonix is never on the same level as "exciting announcement" to fans.

It's probably more on the level of a Justin Beiber or Rebecca Black DLC announcement.

Dance Central Network!

If I had to guess, I'd say that they're bringing Dance Central (or something similar) to PS3 (Move) and Wii. It seems like the kind of dumb decision they'd make, as Just Dance has dancing games locked down for Wii.

Dance Central 2 seems likely. RB2 came out just a year after RB1, right? Announced at E3 2008 with The Who. I'm remembering that correctly, I think.

Beatles export, perhaps with RB3 features and/or new Beatles DLC, is my guess.

Yeah, there were all those surveys they sent around a few months back about the features that folks want in a Dance Central sequel too.

There's not really any doubt in my mind that we'll hear something about Dance Central 2 and maybe a completely new title or too as well. Maybe they'll have something big to announce for Rock Band too, though. The fact that they keep making all those guarded, carefully worded statements -- y'know, "at this time, we have nothing to announce about another Rock Band title for 2011" -- leads me to think they have something to crow about but just aren't ready to spell it out yet.

I'd love it if that were true, although RB:TB seemed to underperform, and RB3 really underperformed, so that combination of the two seems more like a Whammy than Big Money, unfortunately.
