Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
We had an 8-person Rock Band party last night. Full instruments, keyboards, harmonies, everything. Half the people never played a music game in their lives before. It was every shade of awesome. Every time I wonder if the game has run its course, we get something like last night going and my faith in Harmonix is restored.

Rock Band 1 can be bought used (or borrowed, rented, whatever) and exported. Anything else (RB2, Lego RB, Green Day, AC/DC, and all of the track packs), you need an unused code in order to export.

Anyone get any RB-related stuff for Christmas?
My inlaws got us a licensed Rock Band Storage Ottoman. It's made by a company called LevelOne and is different from the "Rock Box" I've seen at BestBuy and on Amazon. They got it at Costco.
Definitely something I wouldn't have bought for ourselves, but it's nice to have a place to store guitars, mics, etc between gaming sessions. The guitar storage area is pretty tight; the strats fit fine, but my Gretsch Duo-Jet is too long. Supposedly there is room to store your drums in the bottom if you disassemble them, but I'm not doing that. At least there's room for the Gretsch down where the drums are supposed to go. It'll probably also hold a keyboard as well.

I got the Mustang from my wife. Holy Hell. I have no guitar experience so I'm learning from square 1. I can only practice for so long before my left hand refuses to move. Ha ha. I did go back through the library and buy all the pro guitar upgrades to songs I already have. Lots of fun!

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
When playing the drums, I get to sections where all the color channel things are lit up. I know I'm supposed to do some type of fill or solo but what the heck do I do that sounds like it belongs in the song. I get a great ryhthm going and everything sounds great and then I get to that break and anything I play sounds like crap. Any suggestions for a RB newbie?
Also, will I ever get use to the RB guitar that comes with RB Beatles? The buttons are so close together but yet some corners stick up a bit so sliding around is kind of awkward. I do better on an old GH2 guitar. Should I just give up on the RB guitar or maybe by a better style?

Those are drum rolls, I believe. Just hit fast, but in time. I think they're usually 16th notes...?
As far as changing guitars, it'll just take time. I did it recently myself going from a GH3 guitar to the wooden RB strat. It'll get easier, but you might try a different RB guitar. The Hofner Bass that comes with Beatles is way too long for me to ever play.

He might be talking about the old way to activate overdrive on drums. I don't remember, is there an option to play that way in RB3?

Oh, maybe. Yeah he'll need to go into the options and turn off (IIRC) fills. That will make the notes stay in place.

Definitely in for the Johnny Cash and very glad to see that... I might have chosen a few other songs, but I'll be happy to finally download something for RB3!

Any news if the RB2 songs are upgraded for harmonies and keys? None of them are marked as pro upgradeable...

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
What's the average turnaround time for songs that premiere on Track Packs to appear for download? As awesome as the Johnny Cash pack is I'm already sorta bummed that "Ring of Fire" is only available that way.

Hey Guys and Gals!
Glad you're excited about this pack. I saw some questions so here's some clarification:
The HMX Pack does not contain keys/harmonies/pro-guitar or bass. It is also only availably as a pack, not individually as singles.
I'm still wrangling the RBN Tracks list, so stay tuned.

Cheers for the Johnny Cash pack! (It's getting expensive for me since I still have yet to buy the Billy Joel songs.)
Jeers to the Harmonix songs lacking keys (and haronies/pro guitar/bass, for those that play those). So, uh, what was the point for them not exporting in the first place?
