Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
What does MTV Games do other than watch over HMX? Seems like there's a whole extra "company" there that don't do shit other than work on licensing music. I'm sure HMX has an internal department for that as welll. Viacom wants out of the game business all-together. I think HMX has the potential to be profitable if they are handled properly.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I'm confused by that as well. Are they dissolving MTV Games? Does that company even have employees?
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I believe they have quite a few employees, as far as I'm aware. If Viacom is getting out of the games business, then they'd probably dissolve them too.

Probably publish and market the games. There's a lot that goes on as far as working with retailers for shelf space, promotional stuff, etc.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
This is all that exists for MTV Games on the web: http://www.mtv.com/games/
It just seems to be a blog. But it does have this: http://www.mtv.com/games/arcade/game...ameId=10036864 Which reminds me... they really missed an opportunity not making Beavis and Butthead playable characters... |

Then what does EA do?
Martin Peers of the Wall Street Journal noted that Viacom lacked the physical distribution channels that other entertainment companies like Time Warner have, and instead were forced to rely on Electronic Arts to distribute the game and cut into their potential profits |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I could be wrong, but I thought the console manufacturers make the actual discs, even for third-party games.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I don't understand this line from that article
"To make it worse, the new ‘Rock Band’ DLC isn’t compatible with the old games" Wouldn't that be like saying GH:WT DLC wasn't compatible with GH1? Or the DLC for Call of Duty: WaW doesn't work with the very first CoD game? Why should they? |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Because it's an ignorant and/or biased editorial?

Isn't that what the Guitar Hero series got reamed for when DLC between stuff like GH3 wasn't compatible with World Tour or vice versa, while Rock Band maintained compatibility between 1 and 2? It makes sense to me as a complaint since I remember Rock Band fans arguing quite vehemently about it in support of it as a "platform."
DLC for RB3 working for RB1 makes little sense, yet still, OUTRAGE! I mean, what person would still be buying DLC each and every week yet doesn't want to pick up RB3? Cost? Skip a couple weeks of DLC. |

Outrage? A little hyperbole don't you think

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Ah, must not have been paying attention. Naturally that's the internet community though. But again, it seems easy to see why some people would complain about it. As for this comment:

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I doubt anyone here needs it but they appear to have more codes now for the Lego RB transfer. Just did mine a little while ago.
