Sadly, your house sounds similar to mine. |

I'm only familiar with Eric Church's first album and would've liked to have had "Two Pink Lines" from it.

This article has some screencaps, though it's still technically a rumor at this point.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Oh, man, having Snoop in the game will be great. Hope some of the tracks are from Doggystyle.
I finally played "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT !!!1" this weekend and was digging it until some orange was all of the sudden thrown at me. (I rock the Medium.) I'd totally forgotten that they were doing this now with DLC. I'd read a few threads about it over at the official RB forums and most for the change seemed to already be Hard/Expert players with a "they should be having fun playing at our level anyway" attitude and those against it were perfectly content with "old school" Medium/Easy (also noting it'd be more imposing to newbs at RB parties). Also peppered in were some "it'll make it easier to transition to a higher level" arguments, which I can buy. Me? http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2049/garthh.jpg I fear change. It wasn't broken. They shouldn't have "fixed" it. I can totally see how some find being the Fake Plastic Guitar Yngwie Malmsteem fun. It's not my thing, though. But hey, I'll still buy RB3. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I totally agree with you. Orange for the sake of orange on medium is a bad idea. On the other hand, I guess it really depends on how much we're talking about, though, and how frequently. Because the idea of the game itself is to introduce new skills as it progresses. But that should be the responsibility of the on-disc songs, imo, and not the optional DLC.
I do distinctly remember one song in one game (I don't know if it's GH2, GH3, or GH:WT) that did throw an orange at you on medium on one of the final tier songs. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I haven't done medium in quite some time, but when I did transition it was easy to just ignore the orange. Sure it breaks combo, but rarely were there enough in a row to make you fail and if there were, that's when you Star Power through it.
But yeah, tossing it in just to be tossing it in is pretty stupid. The old model worked fine. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
What Snoop songs would you be interested in? I can't think of many. Murder was the Case and What's My Name stick out. I hope they save Drop it Like it's Hot for after RB3. That would translate well to keys and drunken harmonies.

Snoop is finally coming out?
lol, I cant wait to see which songs they chose |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I've been stuck in this annoying middle ground where Medium guitar is too easy but Hard is too much for me to handle. The addition of the orange button in Medium would seem to solve that, but...geez, when I saw that orange runway light up when playing "No Control" (and so much of the song consists of chords too), I knew I was in for trouble. Just seems strange for a fairly straightforward song like that to be so much more difficult to play than thrash metal and all on the same difficulty level. :)

A lot of people here probably haven't noticed it because they're up to at least hard, or they haven't bought any DLC lately. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Ok, last official DLC I bought were La Roux's "Bulletproof" and dc Talk's "Jesus Freak". I'll check those out on Medium and Easy soon. I find it hard to believe that HMX is requiring that now.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I had some people over who don't normally play the game and I noticed that the person playing medium guitar had some orange notes every once in a while, but it had been so long since I'd played medium I thought maybe I was misremembering the way medium worked.
I tend to think that would probably make for an easier transition to hard - otherwise when you first play on hard you have to deal with the increased speed, more notes and switching your hand position. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Sure enough, Bulletproof on Medium has one lone orange note at the very end of the solo, around 95% of the way through the song. About to check Easy for blue and orange.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
And at the same spot in the solo they put an arbitrary blue and orange on Easy.
Sure, it doesn't affect me personally but I still don't necessarily agree with it as a requirement. My friends don't play very often and they don't venture past Medium. It won't make that much of a difference if it's just a note or two every song, but it just like a weird thing to require. Support? Yes. Encourage? Sure? Require? Meh... |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
The problem with moving up in difficulty is usually two-fold. You've got (had) the addition of new frets (blue for medium, and orange for hard), and also the speed and complexity of patterns. By having all frets on all difficulties, it should make the jump easier.
However, I'm thinking another reason is that it will make things easier to chart. Rather than figure out how to get a 5-fret expert chart into 3-frets for easy, they now just get to simplify things and leave everything on the same fret it was originally on. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I for one welcome the orange on medium. I suck at hard because it was faster and the extra button - so now i can recut my guitar teeth on medium and get used to that button and make it up to hard. But, then again - I'll likely hang up the guitar again once keyboards are out.
