If I was at a concert in hell I would imagine the headliner would be Phish, with Rush for an opening act.

So, I guess that answers that. One new track next week and stretching the Doors out. Probably good for my wallet.

FYI, next week's Rush song WILL contain Pro Guitar/Bass charts for an additional $.99! http:///akJHeS

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I can't wait to see how they do that. I so hope it's just the one file so that pro and non-pro purchasers can play together and you're free to upgrade later for just the $1 difference. I won't want to decide up front if I care about the pro charts.

Yeah, that had better be how they do it.

This is more than likely how it'll work. The Pro upgrade will just be a 108KB key. It's the most feasible way of doing things.

But then it will patch the file so your file won't be the same as the other person's. Provided the game matches by title and not say checksum of some kind then that would work, otherwise it may just have a simple flag in the meta of the file with an on and off that can be enabled or disabled to yes, or no.
The additional license key is read by the game to enable access to extra content already in the file. |

That's not true. See: Game Room. That's not true. See: Game Room. Or any XBLA game that allows online play through the demo.

I was just throwing something out there :P IT will probably be a key of some kind, but that will be a pain in the ass if you have to download all your songs again, say at that point you have 100, you will have to download 100 songs AND 100 key files. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
However they do it, it would probably have to be something where pro and non-pro players can work together, because vocals don't have a special pro mode.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Great, bigger files to clog up my HD with pro parts I'll never play. I'm going over to the RB forums to bitch! Oh wait...
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I doubt the pro guitar data is anything more than a few hundred KB's. The biggest part of the files is the music itself, probably followed far behind by the animation data.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
glassdragon.. You're saying exactly what I originally said. The pro "upgrade" will just be a key that flips a 0 to a 1 in the "regular" DLC. Keys are typically 108KB.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Do you really go in and look at the contents of your Rock Band folder on your HDD that often? Plus, you can delete songs from in-game now. Then again, why would you want to get rid of something you paid for?

I'm talking more like a real time change on the song when you buy it, the game modifies the file on your hard drive so you don't have to download a seperate key. The store will then have you flagged as having pro mode and when you download it next time it will be a different download than the non pro file with the flag already changed to on. Anything to not have to download hundreds of key files if you have a lot of dlc songs.
