This.

If you have both then why not?

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Just personal preference, really. The PS3 is in a different room, on a smaller TV, etc. etc. etc.
While the 360 and one of my PCs are in the main "home theatre" room.

Seriously, I'm probably just going to get the PS3 version and suck it up.

I am so looking forward to this game. I can't wait almost for 3 more weeks.

I'm just finishing Portal now and really excited for the next one. In the meantime, is Portal: Still Alive worth a $15 download from the Marketplace?

No. It's the same game you just played. There are a few simple extra levels that were from a free flash game. Not even worth 400 if you've already played Portal. Save your money for Portal 2

Thanks. I was under the impression there was more to it than that. I'm extremely curious to see how they make the next game substantial enough to be a full-priced, stand-alone title. I'm a little worried about the value of it.

I hear you, but remember after the discount to MSRP and $20 credit at Amazon, you're talking about a $35 game. Besides, the next Valve game that disappoints me will be the first.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

I'm surprised they never did a Portal 1.5. I would have paid for a pack of additional levels using just the mechanics from the first game. I mean, if I had to choose I'd take the sequel, but I did like the simplicity (no, that's not exactly the right word) of Portal.

Didn't the Portal on the marketplace add some shit that wasn't on the Orange Box version of Portal? I thought it had like 4 or more levels added or some additional mode.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Sort of, but I don't think that was really released with previous owners of Portal in mind - more a tiny bonus to entice new people to buy it. (Although when I looked at it on the 360 Marketplace, it wasn't really clear what it was, so maybe they were trying to resell the game.)

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

How long is this supposed to be, BTW?

Without any sort of multi-player, I would hope it's around 10 hours.

Here's the Qore PS3 preview. They mention that PS3 players will have access to PC mods. Cool.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

I enjoy gaming on my 360 so much more than gaming on my PS3 that I pretty much only buy exclusives on the PS3. But all these PS3 goodies are really pushing that theory to the limit ...

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Thing is that almost all multiple-platform games that are developed on the PC tend to fare far better on the 360 than they do on the PS3.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Given Valve's dedication to put Steam on the PS3 now (after Gabe Newell trashed the PS3 when it was first released) I would assume the port would be pretty darn good this time around.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Especially if they will be pushing the PC updates to the PS3, it makes more sense to purchase the PS3 version on the console. Maybe not as much for Portal 2, but some Valve games like TF2 are updated constantly, you would be missing out on the 360 if these updates are brought to the PS3 simultaneously with the PC.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Wait, does that mean that almost every time I put Portal 2 into my PS3, I'll have to sit through Sony's arduously slow-ass fucking update download? No thanks!

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

The download is probably going to be coming through steam, not psn

and no, probably not. The updates are usually frequent with fps multiplayer games, this game doesn't really have multiplayer aside from coop.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360

Background updates would help, although some people earlier in this thread didn't quite understand it
