Re: NCAA Football 11 (360, PS3) July 13, 2010

Ive been following the threads at OS and saw where some of the long time guys got banned during what seemed like a zero tolerance timeframe by the mods.. that said, these guys were attacking pretty much anyone making any posts that they thought could have been answered with a search.. it was getting kindof ugly... alot of flaming going on.

the fairdale roster only included name changes.. like you mention
the community roster includes incoming freshman, name changes, depth chart changes, skin tone, changes, some ability changes, etc... and its still in v1
they are currently continuing collecting data to get all the incoming freshman/juco corrections made, depth charts corrected further, and such... even going as far as studying media guides to put the correct equipment on the players... there seems to be LOTS of contribution from the community at OS, so I have no doubt that by v2 and v3, the community roster will be extremely detailed..

to me.. sounds like some sour grapes from some former OS guys, leading to some misinformation and inflammatory posting at another site.

that said.. Ive been reviewing the auburn depth chart on the OS community roster..
I may load up this one as well and compare... if nothing else, i might find a few corrections to submit to OS

Re: NCAA Football 11 (360, PS3) July 13, 2010

reading through the NCAA Strategies thread.. it seems there are more SEC/Auburn fans working on that side.. so Ill be interested to check out their roster and compare..

its really a shame.. there is a team of guys on both sides working on the exact same thing.. reading the description of what they are doing on the NS side, it really is basically the same as the OS side.. The OS may be a little more detailed... but sucks that they are divided, working together it seems it would have gone much quicker and v2 would be much further along by now..

edit.. blah.. i see this is ps3 roster, not 360.. so Im not comparing apples w/ apples

So, again, presentation is sorely lacking in an EA Sports game.

They finally integrate the ESPN license they got the exclusive rights to 5 years ago, and all we get is the Gameday logo and theme music at the beginning and end of each game?

Lee Corso is gone. Just erased. I know he doesn't call games in real life, but they didn't bother to replace him with anyone. Now there's just a bunch of dead air where Corso used to speak. Worse still, they thank him at the end of each game as if he was still there. The hell?

No halftime show. Nothing. No highlights, scores, nothing. I fail to understand why they can't do something... anything... to replicate the Saturday experience. Part of the fun of college football is following all the other games going on aside from your own, as they almost always have some bearing on you as well.

good observations chuckd. I like the gameplay and the player animations far more than I liked last years. Players aren't sliding down field and the tackiling animations are much nicer. But once again the presentation is ho-hum. A little halftime report and an end of game wrapup like on college gameday would be awesome - major games would get a big presentation - while smaller games should get a little highlight in the review. or at least give us the band on the field at halftime in a more relevant fashion.

I'd buy that Tebow cover, LOL.

Here's a fun glitch. In my first Dynasty game, there was a turnover early in the 3rd quarter, and the furthest black box on the scorebar properly displayed TURNOVER. The problem is that it said TURNOVER there for the remainder of the game. I never knew what the down and distance was from then on.

It's a shame how little it actually feels like college football. Not to repeat myself from last year, but again, the programmers need to spend a month playing MLB the Show to learn how to add atmosphere to a sports game.

Is anyone on here playing this? I figured that this thread would be seeing at least a little action.

I would get it but I hate the control configuration. I loved it on ps2 but I cant stand playing on ps3, should of made it the same.

I played a full Road to Glory season and then got two games into a Dynasty before losing interest. I'll probably pick it up again once college football starts.

I'll likely play this some more once the completed rosters come out.

Just waiting for the complete rosters to start my Dynasty. I'm doing a Road to Glory and I'm finding it a bit boring after one season.

I've had complete rosters on the PS3 version since last week, and people on CAG have had the Xbox 360 version since about the same time.

Are you guys looking for an-uber verified version?

EDIT: The post above mine came in while I was writing the above, so that answers that.

I agree with all of your points. I've read in reviews that they've recycled all of Erin Andrews stuff from last year. Even if they just had a short half-time summary with her, and maybe just show us some clips of the peepshow to keep us entertained.

Sold the game. I liked it the first few games in my dynasty...but then the same stuff that kills the franchise popped up again.

I am done with this engine and I hope next gen will be a better product.

I have played NCAA since it had a different name and you could dominate as Provo...but it is just dead on arrival this generation. I can only hope for the next round of systems so they can start from scratch with a new engine.

Played 2K football and tried every iteration and I never understood the love for it. I hated it and thought it was overrated.

Don't get your hopes up. The engine is still the same as the one that was used for the original Xbox, they just ported it to the current gen systems. A lot of the flaws that you see now have been around for 5+ years.

Doesn't matter if you loved or hated the 2K series..anyone can appreciate that it had animations that all these years later are still not in any of the EA football games. For instance, the 2K series had true gang tackling.

And for that matter it is the PS1 engine with makeup...but until it is reworked, I am done. I don't like soccer or hockey, but those are by far the best two franchises for EA.

Re: NCAA Football 11 (360, PS3) July 13, 2010

If you bought the game last week and sold it already, I would guess that you never really gave it much of a chance.

It's by no means perfect - I've noticed players use 'your right' instead of 'you're right' when you're interviewing them on phone calls during recruitment, but I think it's a solid game.
