Thanks! Ended up getting a code from Major Nelson earlier today. Gonna try and check it out soon here.

Re: Crackdown 2

Well the sooner we get a in depth report/reviews the better. I've watched every trailer out there including the game footage above. No question the action is there but as noted it's the "look" which is more of "arcade" like than a new game by todays standard. I DL 360 Live Serious Sam and frankly it actually had more detail. It's almost like having monitor at 256 colors versus 64,000.

Isn't the demo scheduled for release tomorrow anyway?

Re: Crackdown 2

Enjoyed the demo.

Did not earn any achievements.

Will wait to pick this up after it drops in price.

And the regularly scheduled demo does come out tomorrow.

For what....PC, PS3 or 360....or all three?

It's 360 exclusive. The game that is, so the 360.

I have no idea where my head is...probably outside fried in this heat. I did hea about a "Demo" but I thought that was some selective signup or contest...not one released to the public.

Re: Crackdown 2

I really liked the demo. The 4-player co-op is enough to convince me to pick it up day one.

Re: Crackdown 2

First demo that allows you to collect achievements. You won't receive any while playing the demo. They'll pop out, if you earned any, when you play the full version of the game.

I swear that I've done this before...at the very least, most XBLA titles do this.

I can't remember a retail release allowing you earn achievements in the demo prior to this. Yeah, XBLA does it essentially (if you don't purchase on the spot you still need to redo the action though), but I would say this is a much different scale.

Re: Crackdown 2

Maybe I'm alone, but I was pretty underwhelmed by the demo. Played through twice. Seemed like a launch title. Might have been great a couple years ago, but today it felt like a cheap version of Infamous.

Re: Crackdown 2

I liked it.

But I played the first one for a long time, so that may help.

Re: Crackdown 2

Just tried a few minutes last night. No gameplay opinion yet, but man it didn't look very pretty, that's for sure.

Re: Crackdown 2

Not sure what folks were expecting. Looks and feels like Crackdown. I'm in. The area of town you start in didn't feel familiar at all. No opinion about the game being Left 4 Dead after nightfall yet.

Re: Crackdown 2

Oh and this may come in handy (until Ruffian patches it). Glitch for Unlimited Play in the demo:

.... and a link to the Demo Achievements available.

Re: Crackdown 2

I played the demo last night. It looked a lot better on my TV than it has in any of the internet clips that I've seen up to this point; however, it was still remarkably underwhelming from both a visual and gameplay standpoint.

Maybe when I can find it for under $20 used or as a greatest hits title I'll pick it up.

Yeah, that's the thing. The game is probably still fun, but it looks like a launch title and while you can say that visuals are overrated, it does make the game look "cheap' and lazy by comparison. Just Cause 2 is a much better looking sandbox game and at least as much fun as a solo player experience. I don't need to be knocked out with stunning visuals, but at least the explosions should look nice in a game that encourages you to blow shit up and create chaos.

I kept comparing it to Infamous. The city in Crackdown 2 looked empty and generic. The open world in Infamous felt like a real location. Sandbox games have come so far in the past couple years. This game feels badly dated.
