Crackdown 2
Crackdown 2 is coming out on July 6th. So who's getting it?
I've got it pre-ordered at Amazon based on the positive reviews for the first game (never played that one). But I'm debating whether or not to cancel it. Not a big fan of sandbox games. And I've got a lot of stuff to play. Maybe I should wait for a price drop. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JtRoteHsk38&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JtRoteHsk38&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> |
Re: Crackdown 2
Had it preordered since it was announced. Loved the first...hope this one surpasses it.

Re: Crackdown 2
Why spend $60 on the sequel instead of $10 on the first since you haven't played it? Like you said, the first got positive reviews while this one is a wildcard, especially since it isn't the same company making this one.*
*some of the designers from the first are at the new company, but not the whole team. |
Re: Crackdown 2
I'm not liking how this one looks - it's kinda drab in comparison to the first one, and especially in comparison with the current king of sandbox destruction games, Just Cause 2.

I loved Crackdown but I'm not at all sold on the new one yet. Waiting on reviews and word of mouth to pick it up. |
Re: Crackdown 2
Well, I was looking forward to this because I loved the first one. This video unsold me though. The graphics look really dingy and I hate the forced multiplayer to acquire orbs.

Re: Crackdown 2
I was looking forward to this as Crackdown is one of my favorite games of this generation, but I'm not really feeling any of the changes. I don't like the whole mutant thing, and I especially don't like how they seem to be pretty mindless like the zombies from Dead Rising. Also, a big appeal of a sequel would have been a new city, but since this is the same city I've already spent hours in, I think I will probably just skip this, and replay the first one.

Re: Crackdown 2
I've got it ordered. Loved the original one co-op. This one looks better with all the new stuff you can do.

Re: Crackdown 2
Yeah, that video didn't look good. Still I got $2.50 off my preorder in a Gold Box discount and the preorder dropped to $49.99 at some point in time and that locked my preorder price there. So with the $10 gift credit afterwards, it ends up costing $37.50 total. For that price, I'll give it a spin. But less excited than I thought I'd be at this point. Looking to read some more impressions from the floor.

I don't like cell shading as it is, and the weak look of the explosions in particular just don't do anything at all for me. Considering the backlog of games that I currently have, maybe I'll pick this one up when the price drops. |
Re: Crackdown 2
Wait, it's the same fucking city?
Then what's the fucking point? Why not just make it another DLC? |

Re: Crackdown 2
It's the same city, yes, but some of the architecture has been changed so that the buildings will look slightly different.
Still, BFD. |
Re: Crackdown 2
I'll wait for reviews. The first one was fun but nothing I can't wait to buy.

Re: Crackdown 2
What's funny is hte first one everyone was like "Meh" and "skip" then they packaged it with the Halo 3 beta code and once people played CD they were like "Awesome" and "Yay"

Re: Crackdown 2
I'm glad to see someone finally started a topic on this. I'm about sold on it for a few reasons but mainly four-player co-op. Other parts...
It appears you can use about anything and do anything to take out the infected. Like I said..four-player co-op Action...action...action The only negative so far is the over cell-shading. If it were closer to say Borderlands then no problem as it has cell shaded characters, detailed landscape and solid cellshaed detail in buildings. That I can live with. Other than that Amazon's deal is not bad now...$5.00 off + $10.00 Game credit + $5.00 in MP3 + codes for four different armor suits |

Re: Crackdown 2
Just scored an early code for the demo that's coming next week. Currently downloading. I guess there goes sleep for tonight.

Re: Crackdown 2
I want to amend my original post to say that I will probably give this a go once the price drops significantly (unless the word of mouth or the demo is really great), because even with the changes I'm not thrilled about, I still want to try the new weapons.

Re: Crackdown 2
Demo is a timed demo of 30 minutes. Didn't get to do too much with it yet. Hopefully tonight.
I don't see it listed here, but you're also able to earn achievements in the demo. You can get up to 100 of the 1000 points in the demo, but they don't actually UNLOCK until you play the full disc game. I'm not sure how I feel about getting the disc and potentially just having a bunch of things unlock at the beginning. Seems it may take some of the fun out of doing it in the real game, but it's an interesting hook and marketing strategy. Not to mention it seems like they threw in some of the more goofy stuff to promote people playing around with what the game can do. Like one for passing a car between multiple players without it touching the ground. |

How'd you get the early demo?
John Noonan was giving out codes on Twitter last night. I was on at 3am so I guess my odds were just in a good spot. |
Re: Crackdown 2
I downloaded the (early) demo today when I got home, played around with it for a bit going to try it out again later tonight.
