Re: Playstation Move Thread
I still can't get the eyepet to respond regularly to finger waving, even with the wand in my hands. How much light do you guys have in your living room? It's still the only Move game I have (besides Heavy Rain which I haven't popped in since the update), but at this rate I'm not going to be getting many more.
How's the RE5 functionality?

Re: Playstation Move Thread
Start the Party shows your image on screen. It puts an object in your hand like a raquet, flashlight, swatter, etc., that's very responsive. My media room is not super bright, but the overhead lights and light coming through the doorway are enough to play the game. I have to keep the curtains in the room closed because the windows are opposite the TV and would completely wash out the screen otherwise. The video quality of the camera isn't very good though. (Maybe if my room were lit up like a TV studio the video quality would look as good as the trailer for this game.) I downloaded a few games for the PS Eye from the PSN that puts your image onscreen. Same results: responsive controls but ugly video.

All the more reason for Sony to sell an "HD camera" for $99 next holiday season.

I was hoping they'd introduce an upgraded camera for the Move. I've had the camera for a long time, got it for $10 or something a long time ago, the one for the PS3, and it was fine for the kids to play with the video program that was in the PSN for free.

Seriously, you guys are getting yourselves worked up over a very minor deal. You're talking two games out of dozens. Remember this isn't the EyeToy here; the Move is first and foremost a motion controller, not a party toy camera. As a responsive way to integrate motion controls in a less-gimmicky way into current-generation core games, it works very well.

The game was advertised and sold with the Augmented reality part, which while it works well isn't as immersive as it could be. Also every ad I saw showed the camera to be pretty damn high quality, nowhere near the crap it really looks.

Tried a little Time Crisis Razing Storm tonight. It's pretty much exactly what I was expecting. It's a super-accurate arcade on rails light gun game. If you ever dreamed of having one, this is a really good facsimile. With a second person (and second Move controller), it would be a blast. The game looks pretty good and it feels right. I bet it'll be better with a "Move-Zapper" peripheral -- it's a little hard to aim without one. Still the game is pretty cool, if nothing extraordinary. I wanted to play a little of the Pirate game that comes with the main game, but it requires a 3.5 GB install to play and I didn't want to waste the time or HDD space when I had barely touched the main game. Very strange requirement that. Didn't try the Time Crisis 4 bonus game yet, but I wonder if it'll require a separate HDD install as well.

I picked up Move and Eye Pet for the kids for Xmas. I'm mostly looking forward to playing golf myself, but I've never been a fan of moving around during video game time.

Decker, how is the button configuration for the shield/reloading? I cant really find any reviews on how this works with the official gun attachment. Ive heard you have to hold the button on top, or there's a setting where you let go of the trigger.

Holding the Move button brings up the shield and reloads. Tapping it briefly does peek-a-boo with the shield and reloads. The trigger fires the weapon (Hey, RE 5 Gold Edition, YOU should try that sometime). I haven't played with a gun attachment, but I suppose you just reach up and touch the Move button to bring up the shield.

Re: Playstation Move Thread
It's super-accurate and not at all laggy. To be fair, I haven't tried a light gun game since the PS1 (except that Nerf one on the Wii). It's WAY more accurate than the Wii one, but I can't really comment on how it compares to the Guncom 3 that came out with Time Crisis 4 last year (it is compatible with that one). It's certainly a more elegant set-up though.

The demo for The Shoot is up now on PSN. I haven't tried it yet though.

Thanks, Kotaku mentions the same thing. I finally found a copy today, and my gun attachment arrives tomorrow. Now im torn, I wish you could shoot off screen to reload, but guess I will just try it anyway.
What about the Move's gun attachment, how was that? The Move's gun attachment is a great add-on purchase for the game, unfortunately it makes reloading, which is done with a button push, a big issue. Because the reload button for all of the arcade games is located on the top of the Move controller, you have to pull the gun back to push it, making the very important and frequent action get in the way of the playing. In story mode you can use the Nav controller's buttons, which is much better.

Re: Playstation Move Thread
I don't mean to pick on Clark Evans' reviews here, (for all I know he might be a great guy and before last week I never had a problem with any of his reviews) but he just posted a review of Time Crisis Razing Storm and there's a big problem with it. He repeatedly criticises the Razing Storm Story Mode (which he never identifies as such, he just calls it Razing Storm) for having terrible controls in regards to movement. Here's what he says:
" In Razing Storm, you have control of character movement rather than the standard rail shooter format. To move the character, you have to point the Move in the direction you want to go, typically off the screen. It's painfully spastic and pales in comparison to moving with a regular Dualshock controller. Player movement on the Move is beyond problematic and often feels broken."
In one way, he's right. That particular game mode is unplayable with just the Move controller. What he somehow neglects to mention is that there's no reason why anyone would ever play the game with just the Move. It's much easier to control with either the optional Nav controller or even a standard PS3 controller in the non-dominant hand. How he doesn't ether realize this or mention it is beyond me. Admittedly, it's still not a great mode and pales to standard FPS games, but to harp on terrible controls (including mentioning it again in the conclusion) without once mentioning that there are other ways to play the mode is a HUGE oversight, especially considering this is one of very few reviews of this game currently on the net. It's not a great game, but it deserved an accurate review and it didn't get one here.

Really happy to see that echochrome 2 is not only Move enabled, but uses the Move in a very intuitive way to solve puzzles in a unique way. I won't know for sure until the game comes out 12/21, but this looks considerably more fun than the original. Probably a day one purchase for me.

So whats the verdict so far?
I wound up picking up a Kinect but may still pick up a Move somewhere down the line if I find a decent enough reason to. It's definitely the most accurate of the 3.

Re: Playstation Move Thread
I know it's at least on the Move demo disc that came with the bundle.
For what it's worth, I didn't really enjoy it. I thought it was cool, but something about it just didn't feel right or fun (or as engaging/challenging as the original.) But that's just me.

This looks interesting. I've avoided these sorts of peripheral, but this one has potential, assuming they use an electronic trigger mechanism that plugs into the base of the Move controller instead of some lame lever mechanism like on the current gun peripheral and on the Wii Zapper.
New PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter Attachment
Posted by Anand Agarwal // Product Manager, Peripherals
Hi Everyone! There’s been a lot of talk about what shooter games will be like using motion control. We know that some of you gamers might be a bit hesitant to put down the gamepad, but we believe the upcoming PlayStation Move sharp shooter will make motion control for shooter games quite irresistible. Available concurrently with the highly anticipated Killzone 3 in Feb 2011 for $39.99 (MSRP), the sharp shooter is perfect for gamers who want to experience the most realistic action possible.

Sharp shooter
The PlayStation Move sharp shooter houses both the motion controller and navigation controller, giving you complete control over aiming, movement and interaction within the game. It will truly offer the most intuitive and immersive control experience ever found in a shooter game. It was designed for both comfort and precision, including easily accessible buttons, a responsive digital trigger, adjustable shoulder stock and convenient access to the navigation controller. In addition, the sharp shooter has incorporated a firing mode selector, realistic pump-action and a reload button that allow for new ways of engagement.
So what games will you be able to use the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter with? The PlayStation Move sharp shooter was designed specifically with games such as Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs in mind and even comes with a Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4 sticker pack. Other compatible titles include Time Crisis: Razing Storm and Dead Space Extraction, but you can expect many more upcoming games that will work with it as well.

^^ I might have to get this. I was finally able to actually find a second Move controller on Amazon yesterday. Local B&M stores haven't had them in stock for months around here.

Here's that gun in action with Killzone 3. This looks very cool -- hard to imagine a FPS better played with a gun peripheral over a controller, but this one might be the exception. If nothing else, it'll be a cool change of pace.

Re: Playstation Move Thread
The Fight: Lights Out got terrible reviews from critics but glowing reviews from "regular people" who bought it. I decided to try it out. My opinion falls somewhere in between the critics and the regular folks. It's not an absolute disaster. In fact, occasionally, it is extremely immersive. However, just as often, it's imprecise and awkward. One thing's for sure though...I have never played a game that is as much of a work out as this one is. When I'm done with a game, I'm winded and sweaty, and the next day I'm pretty sore.
