Re: Dead Space 2

Well, I'm at the beginning of Chapter 14, Chapter 15 is the last one, and God, this game is hardcore! At least for me. I get so tense, so stressed out. I don't know why after a long day of work I play this game to "relax" myself.

But yeah, the sense of accomplishment every time I finish a chapter is so great.

Re: Dead Space 2

Oh and one thing I'm not liking it's the areas with infinite spawn monsters. I kept dieing in one of these places until I checked a guide.

Do you mind stating which chapter that was so I can keep a look out for it? I wasted a bunch of ammo in an earlier section because I did something wrong and I don't need to repeat that mistake.

I think he's talking about one of the last chapters (14 or 15) where one of the necromorphs just keeps respawning limbs and you can't kill him.

A little ammo conservation tip for that part that I found while playing zealot is you can just haul ass through the rooms... just stasis the ones that are directly in front of you. You may need to shoot a couple of them, but you can literally make it through that whole section firing only a few rounds. The Ripper works great in that section too BTW.

Re: Dead Space 2

Yeah, it's in the last chapters, from 12 to the end, I think.

Basically, the mindset should be you are not here to kill monsters. Just to survive.

Re: Dead Space 2

Oh and I'm in the final big boss battle. I hate it. Spent 30 mins or so last night and I just can't pass it.

I will try again tonight.

I think I liked the final big boss battle of the first game better.

Made it to chapter 10 last night. The fight in chapter 9 against the stalkers was nuts.

Most of the fights are nuts after that. Just remember to keep moving.

I got all stressed out playing the game after chapter 10.

Re: Dead Space 2

The game really makes you think about how you want to use ammo. I'm constantly almost out for all 4 guns. I'm gravitating more towards the ripper as the game goes on. It seems to be best for anything that isn't a stalker.

Re: Dead Space 2

I'm not sure if I'm in Chapter 8 or 9, but it's after

Spoiler:
the Solar Array thing and you zoom back to the Transport Hub to meet with Ellie and Strauss again and you get attacked while waiting for the door to open. I quit trying after about three deaths.

I'm just not feeling this game the way everyone else is. I mean, it's exactly what it should be so it's not like I'm disappointed. I just don't feel compelled to keep playing yet.

Re: Dead Space 2

I was stuck at that part too. I eventually had to turn it off the night I made it there because I was getting too frustrated. Got it on my first try the next day. Try buckling down in a corner and using the ripper if you have it.

For me, it's the unknown that keeps me wanting to play. I always want to see what the game will throw at me next. The story is throw-away but the action is insane.

Re: Dead Space 2

Yeah, I got stuck there Pinata. Sadly, I had several of those moments in the last chapters.

I used the Detonator there, mines all over the place, and barely survived after several tries.

Re: Dead Space 2

Well, part of my problem is that when I get a new weapon, I try to go after the associated achievement, even if I die. So most of those were going after the Force Gun thing And still trying to kill 6 things at once with the Line Gun's alt-fire, much to the detriment of my body.

Haha, the line gun's alt fire has saved me from quite a few messy situations.

Re: Dead Space 2

Yeah, I was like that too. Trying to get achievements for a particular weapon. Until I said fuck it, I'm only good with these two weapons and that's what I'm going to use the rest of the way.

Still, that may not be the best decision for some areas.

Yeah, I think that's what it is. Why the heck am I playing on Zealot in my first playthrough? Argh. I'm going to change the difficulty back to normal...

Re: Dead Space 2

My plan is to finish Normal, then probably go back through on Easy to relearn the areas and timing and stock up on ammo and health packs and so on. Finish upgrades, collect money. Then move on to Zealot.

Not really a spoiler as it's just weapon-specific advice and nothing more, but just to be safe...
Spoiler:
It may be too late now if you don't have an earlier save, but if you have the Contact Beam fully upgraded, or enough nodes to do so, it makes the final battle a breeze. I used it on my first and second (zealot) playthroughs and it takes about 15 seconds.

Re: Dead Space 2

Yeah, I read about that. I may have an earlier save, at the end of chapter 14, so I may be able to buy that weapon.

But I'll give it another try (tries?) with my current setup.

Re: Dead Space 2

Speaking of which, what's everyone's favorite setup? What did you upgrade first? Did you respec ever?

I buy everything as soon as it's available (and I can afford it). I upgraded my Stasis completely first and have started now on my Rig. I haven't spent a node on a weapon yet, which may not be helping

Re: Dead Space 2

I upgraded Stasis and my Rig first. Then I completely upgraded my Plasma Cutter. Now I'm upgrading my Ripper and will likely upgrade my Contact Beam. I'm on my second playthrough and have kept it on easy to keep stocking up. After this go and maybe one more I will likely give Zealot a shot. I just don't know if I can do the Hardcore run. There are certain spots that are a bitch where one mistake costs you your life.

Re: Dead Space 2

Another noobish question for those of you that have done a NG+. Do the counters carry over for the achievements/trophies as well? Like 2,500 dismemberments or 50 flamethrower kills. Can you get half in one game and half in the other? That may ease my OCD.

It's actually fucked me a few times. I'll be aiming so I have the flashlight, hit the stomp button and quickly deplete all my health by blowing myself up. Argh.

Alt fire seems to be the thing I keep forgetting on the weapons this go around. Luckily I have remembered stasis better on DS2 than on 1.
