Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Hit 100% complete today in just under 50 hours

5 finger fillet and sharpshooter rank 5 were the hardest thing to get. Sharpshooter was hard just because it took forever to find 2 animals close enough together to shoot but I finally got it with a bird and a deer.

Note: in Free Roam this is a different task from single-player, as you have to kill about 8 cougars before you even get to see the jaguar, and he has a few cougars with him as well. Of course you have no medicine, and if you die, the jaguar is gone and you start over.
Did this last night but I stood inside the doorway at the cabin and the cougers and jag came to me and I blasted them from the doorway. They could not get inside. It was awesome and scary at the same time. LOL!

I mean, I played capture the bag last night and got 3 captures in one game and was awarded the top player at the end....and I got all that without getting one kill but seven deaths so that was kinda cool...but the free roam is lacking big time if you just want to "hang out" so to speak....they really should have at least put in the mini games from the single player mode.

Can you level up in free roam as well? I'm guessing this is done by clearing out gang hideouts?

I also do really like that lock on aiming works in multi-player....that is a huge plus (and is needed).
I would suggest hitting the hideouts solo. Do the Pikes Basin solo and you can get some high xp points.

Funny story, when I was doing the melee knife on a bear challenge, right after I killed the bear another bear came charging at me, I panicked and while I tried to change weapons from the knife I accidentally switched to the throwing knife and I threw one knife and hit the bear straight between the eyes and he dropped dead right in front of me, it was so f'n awesome.

I have to do that free roam challenge where you complete pikes basin and another gang hideout. Anyone up for helping do that tonight?

Do it yourself and just don't die. Or just hang out nearby and let randoms do it for you.

I'm sorta embarrassed to admit this, but RDR pretty much taught me how to play poker. I'm no fool, I know that there is a lot to learn, but I never even so much knew the basics of it until this game.

I need to do all of them still so can help you out. I usually don't get on till after 10pm CT.

Hopefully, I won't have connection issues like I did the last time I tried to join up with fellow Talkers. I kept getting disconnected with it stating "connection issues with other players." I have read that they are testing a fix for it. I also opened up the Xbox ports on my router so hopefully that will fix it too.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So I played a bit last night and I see this woman getting attacked in the street by a random dude with a knife. I shoot him. I take his his bullets and cash and then his buddies start to shoot me -- ok, makes sense. THEN the sherrif starts to shoot me -- so I cap him too. Then I lose 100 honor and I get a bounty on my arse.
Is there a way to do the honorable thing (ie resuce the lady) without having the sherrif come after your ass too? I can't tell who's good or bad and I always end up killing the good guys and ruining my "honor".

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

One of my favorite things was in Blackwater late in the game. I went into the tailor and there was a chest on the ground, I opened it and collected like $20. The shopkeeper freaked out, became an eyewitness, and was on his way to report my crime. I caught him as he tried to leave the shop and bribed him $3 to keep his mouth shut

That's what you get when you don't stock Jewish-made merchandise.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

The patch (1.02) is out now, at least for the PS3 version. It has fixed the Mo Van Barr problem for those who pre-ordered from Gamestop, but apparently it has also drastically reduced the amount of XP you get from Solomon's Folly, and possibly other hideouts.

Today was the first day I tried the fast xp level up. Started the day at level 37 now at level 48. At first they were giving around 1500 for solomons folly now its like 500. I don't know why they did that stupid shit.

Well, somebody has already found a workaround. If you delete the game data and let the game reinstall without applying the patch, you can start a single-player game, and switch to LAN play to level up.

I think the game was actually giving you too high of a bonus score in Solomon's Folly, and they've corrected that. If you use the workaround to go back to how it was, notice how the ratio of your bonus score to your base score will be much higher in SF than in the other gang hideouts. They just didn't catch it before release, perhaps partly because SF is exclusive to PS3.

I tried that but it automatically downloaded the patch I will retry.
