On my ride from Blackwater to Escalera in Public Free Roam, I got to Fort Mercer (halfway) and some douche in there shot at me and ended up killing my horse. I picked myself up and started running, whistled for my horse and when it came near, I hiked myself up onto its rear, and barely escaped. Made it the rest of the way without issue. Achievement unlocked.

This seems to be a popular theme with this game, I think I read somewhere that there's even an achievement for it.

You don't buy just anything, you buy the actual scrap at the general store. If it says locked then you need to complete more story missions before it is unlocked and available for purchase. As Pinata said, after buying the scrap go to your provisions screen and select to use.

I think I'm gonna try the bounty achievements tonight so if anyone wants kill them some Mexicans mount up!

Take the money. The warhorse is basically the same thing as a stallion that you can find in any field.

Just finished the main story and enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely neck and neck with Mass Effect 2 for my vote for GotY.

I've become increasingly bored with the repetitive single player gameplay and just when I thought I was nearing the end it suddenly turned into Green Acres The Game (tm). My exciting life on the ranch has me pining for the days when I used to go flower picking for fun. I'm ready for this to be over.

I chose the War Horse. I actually was one of the chumps who paid for it on eBay. I think it was the best out of the 3 or so pre-order items. I've used it exclusively since I've started. It looks bad ass and seems to have a decent amount of stam and speed. I don't know how it compares to the higher level horses you get later in the game though.

I sold my War Horse code for $40 the same day i got the game. I was also able to get BB to pricematch the TRU deal and get a $25 GC.
