Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So, should I just sell the gold from the treasure hunters quests, or is there some reason to hang on to it?

I'm not sure. I suspect that you can just sell them but I have held on to the three I've found so far.

I'm only a few hours into this one and just met up with and did a few missions for Seth. I think he may take the cake for craziest RockStar game character.

I was wondering if there was a reason why the gold had different names.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Is there a way to skip past some of the repetitive stuff? I got a little bored with the skinning animations. Any way I can avoid that?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I have heard that if you ride your horse directly on top of the dead animal and get off and click the option then, that you wont get the animation. But honestly, I'm not sure if that works. Sometimes I don't get the animation in the first place. It doesn't not give it very often, but I have seen that happen a number of times for me.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Is there a way to tell if a horse is better than the one you have if you find one out in the wild?

Yup, definitely want to know this. I have stuck with my original horse because I have no clue what horses are better. It actually gave me an achievement for it. It was like complete 20 missions in a row with the same steed.

Things like this bug me about games. Do they not realize HOW MANY times you are going to have to watch this animation? At least give you the option to turn it off.

Yeah I sold it. It's not needed for any missions or anything.

I finally bought one of the newspapers, glad I did.

Spoiler:
Landon Ricketts dies in his sleep. I wanted to see him again in the DLC or sequel. Marshal Johnson from Armadillo retired. Seth finally finds a treasure haul. The professor gets fired from Yale after a fight with another professor .

I shot a few of a farmer's pigs. Two were shot next to a fence, and one was shot in the middle of the pig pen. I got the animation for the one in the middle of the pen but not for either that was next to a fence.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Sometimes I don't get the skinning animation, or the looting animation. It seems to be when your character is in a position in which the animation won't work, such as next to a fence like Gdrlv mentioned.

BTW, has PETA come out with their thoughts on this game?

I love this game so much.
I didn't get the whole hard on people are getting over the music as you enter Mexico. So there are lyrics, ok. It lasted maybe 30 seconds for me before it faded away. Did I miss something?

Oh and I got another weird glitch playing Poker. Well, two actually. The first one was where the black guy playing against me morphed into a white guy and then back. This happened a few times in the game. Intimidation tactic maybe?

The second one had all three of my opponents facial features being melted away, as if they were wearing a mask. Think of the movie Hollow Man, and that's what they all looked like.

Strange.

Flowers work towards the Survivalist Challenge (check your Journal). Completing that works towards 100% as well as an Outfit that enhances your Dead Eye ability.

About which horses are best....

You're btter off just buying one at a shop....they're expensive but are prob much better.

Also, I have tamed a few wild horses and have rode them....I can't tell you if I've noticed a difference or not though - I haven't really paid attention to it. I also have not bought any ammo since I started the game and I'm almost done with the Mexico missions.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Unlocked the U.S Marshals outfit. Doing the five hideouts in the 24 hours (game time) was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

*Got my first glitch. During one of the bird shooting contests it stopped counting the ones I shot.

Does anyone know the two hidden trophies between Redeemed and mowing them down? If it contains major spoilers don't tell me.

Exactly, it was a very theatrical moment and is supposed to last around 3 or 4 minutes, however long the long is. I believe if you get off your horse or do anything like that it forces the song the fade.

The entire point of it is to give you that special theatrical moment, to enjoy the scenery as you enter the new territory for the first time. I didn't even so much as run my horse at all. I just walked it the entire time and let it all sink it. It was awesome.

And at full disclosure, I finally did encounter a couple of freezes. Both were in the middle of a mission so I didn't technically lose anything other than a minute or two of the mission I was in the middle of.

As for flowers, as mentioned above, the only good they really are is for the challenges and then the stranger missions that require you to get them. You can't sell any of them for anything worth the time, so don't just constantly collect them. There are a few achievements/trophies for them also I *think*, maybe something like collect a certain number of all of the plants in the game. Then again that could be a challenge, I'm not entirely sure.

Don't just randomly collect them if you plan on selling them though. It's not worth it.
