Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I just got the easiest silver trophy ever.

"The Gunslinger" - Score a headshot on any enemy using Expert targeting mode.

All I did was switch to expert (I'm playing on normal) and shoot a hooker in the back of the head.

Oh, it also gives you some Playstation Home avatar...if that's you're thing.

I don't think it's silver, but the easiest I've ever seen is The Simpsons. You get a trophy for hitting start at the title screen lol

I think it was just an achievement. PS3 Trophies didn't exist back then IIRC. Did they add trophy support to the Simpsons game?

Back on topic...

I was doing a bounty and the guy runs away after I kill his buddies. So I jump off my horse and lasso him. Before I can hogtie him, I get attacked by a pack of wolves. So he escapes and runs to my horse. He gets on it, and rides away.

No problem, right, I'll just whistle and he'll be thrown off.

Wrong.

He just kept going. I failed the mission. Lost my horse, too.

So apparently bounties have some sort of special bond with horses so they remain on no matter what. Lame.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So I'm playing the game, and I finish the mission where I just got my lasso. (Played at a friend's house due to 360 being in for repairs.) I go back to town and I park my horse, and some guy starts trying to steal it. So I think, well I'm not going to kill him, I'll just lasso and hogtie him. I do that, and I get a bounty and I get killed by the cops? What the hell? How is that NOT an honorable way to deal with a horsethief. Do you just gotta fisticuffs the guy?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

so how do you form a posse in this game? I was in a private match, and we could not figure out how to posse up, even though we were able to do missions together, the reason I ask is obviously there is a way to form a posse, because in the private match no one could see the way points like they should have been able to when the person leading set them up...so what do you have to do?

Yahoo Answers says when in MP, click on someone to invite them to your posse (back button then RB). Who knows if that's right, since it is Yahoo Answers.

I had so-so results with that situation.

I was chasing one of my bounties on horseback, and I shot his horse so he would fall. For some reason, I jumped off my horse to lasso him - I guess I never figured he would take my horse, which he promptly did. I didn't react immediately because I was kind of shocked at what to do, but after about 5 seconds I did whistle and my horse bucked him off. I was so far away, though, that he jumped back on my horse right before I could get there on foot. I whistled a second time, but that time nothing happened.

Trying to lasso people is a huge pain in the ass. I just shoot my bounties in the face. I did discover, however, that if you hang about after killing the bounty and his buddies (to loot their corpses and skin their horses, etc) more buddies will come!

So, any difference between 360 and PS3? The PS3 has bonus stuff, correct? Just debating what to get.

Anyone get their $20 bonus from Amazon yet? Really want to apply that towards Super Mario Galaxy 2. I already got my bonus Gold weapons pack.

The reviews I've seen universally praise the 360 version as better, particularly in the graphics department.

I first got the weapons pack yesterday, still waiting on the $20. I'm in the same boat on wanting to use it toward SMG2.

Guys I put my code in for the golden gun. Is that only for single player?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Yes, and it only seems to apply to the base weapons. As I've picked up weapons upgrades along the way, they are not golden.

Here's a fairly thorough comparison. I don't think there's a huge difference, but some people might notice.

In those screenshots there's actually quite a big difference in blurriness and detail level. Might be better in motion, but those pictures does the PS3 no favors.

I really enjoy the single player, the multiplayer is meh so far. I probably need to play more team games, but forcing you to start off with a donkey in free roam is pretty lame.

I learned that one the hard way!

The trick to lassoing is to keep the right trigger held down until you actually get the guy hogtied.

Eh, PS3 version looks great on my TV, way better than GTA4 did so I'm pleased.

And hunting down bounties is crazy - I almost got killed by several waves of other bad guys trying to kill me on my way back to collect. But damn the "dead-eye" aiming is so cool, so satisfying picking people off their horses.

Anyone do a duel yet in the single-player? I unknowingly accepted one and got killed - any tips?

My problem is getting close enough to the guy to lasso him without getting shot myself. Taking a rope to a gunfight, as it were.

Awesome! I just realized you can replay any mission at any time.

So what is your overall stats? I'm at 12 hours and 24% completed.
