As I mentioned before, I bought Animal Planet for my wife on Black Friday. It was going to be a gift for her for Christmas, but she was with me so I figured why wait. She put it in that Friday night. Here are her stats since then (the Nintendogs file is hers also)...

I'm very excited for Bravely Default. It looks like an RPG from Squaresoft and I'm sorely in need of that. But microtransactions on 3DS? Seriously Square Enix? Seriously?
...and how is IGN doing all these reviews 3 months before launch? I saw they did the new Professor Layton a couple of weeks ago as well.

Similar deal with Layton. It was out in Japan in February 2013, and Europe and Australia in November, but not out until February 2014 in North America.

StreetPass event next weekend, the 14th and 15th (link):

I've hit most of the McDonald's and Starbucks around me, but I'll hit them again next weekend for some new tags and puzzle pieces.
Nintendo of America is aiming to raise awareness and buzz around the feature on the weekend of 14th/15th December, announcing its StreetPass Weekend. The main feature of the event is that the data stored in Nintendo Zone points — these now distribute hits for the last six visitors that have passed — will be mixed up around North America. Rather than receive hits for other 3DS owners in the same state, gamers in the region can pick up data from others around the full continent.

Same here. Indy is big enough that I tend to get new passes each time I go to Starbucks. I would love some new regions though.

Lol, that's what I was curious of. I grab a breakfast burrito there once in a while but I never go inside...hadn't thought to bring my 3DS with me ever.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!
Never played a Pokemon game in my life, but my kid has expressed an interest in them via card collecting. Being that it's a JRPG, I'm inclined to get her one to mess around with on my new 3DS.
Is there any functional difference between X & Y? I know with the whole concept of "gotta catch em all", it stands to reason that some of the creatures would be exclusive to one or the other title. Is that true or it is just easier to "catch em all" with both titles? Or are you supposed to be social and trade with someone that has the other title?
I never understood why they come out in pairs.

The titles are identical except for a handful of pokemon exclusive to each one. I think the idea of two versions originally was to promote trading between you and a friend if you each own a different version.
Here is an IGN article with the differences:

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!
Sega has announced a second batch for Japan, and said a North American release will depend on sales. They should release them all on one cartridge. I bet a large percentage of 3DS owners don't buy from the eShop.

The talk about Fire Emblem got me wondering if an Advance Wars game is coming out for the 3DS. It feels like it's been ages since the last one.
