Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

The only 3DS game I can think of that I want right now that I don't already have is Mario & Luigi. I'm not sure if it's worth getting one of the others to get that one though.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I didn't have Zelda yet, so this was a no-brainer. I was thinking about Mario & Luigi, but considering it's $28-something at Amazon right now, a second order definitely isn't worth it for me.

The only Nintendo title I don't have that I've wanted is Kid Icarus. But, I can't bring myself to pay more than $15 for it after the sale BB had earlier this year.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I think the next 3DS game I am really looking forward to is Bravely Default (2-7-2014), a very well received JRPG by Square Enix. I'm glad its actually making it over to the US.

Didn't that game just get totally destroyed in reviews?

Thanks for posting this! Got Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 along with AB:SW and TMNT for about $75 total. And I ordered Paper Mario: Sticker Star for $10 from Walmart earlier today. Pretty decent little starter library for my new Zelda 3DS bundle.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I got my 32gb card from Amazon that I bought the other day. I decided to upgrade my 4gb card in my 3DS to this one since I find myself buying more 3DS games digitally since I rarely sell off first party Nintendo games. I was very shocked at how easy it was to change out the card. It was literally just a copy and paste deal, so simple. I'm not used to things being so simple with Nintendo, heh.

Is the Fire Emblem game worth picking up for $15 if I've never cared too much for a turn based RPG? Any chance at all I could get into it?

It's a strategy RPG like FF Tactics or Tactics Ogre. Those are usually love/hate for people. For me, it was well worth full price. If you play on Normal/Casual mode, it won't be too stressful to get through.

I'd like to get that, but I got 3 games in GameStop's B2 G1 sale and I have Zelda. I'll hold off for now.

IGN gave it an 8.6 out of 10, just knocking some of the dialogue and voice performances.

Yeah, that's an unfortunate precedent that I hadn't seen before on the 3DS.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I'm very excited for Bravely Default. It looks like an RPG from Squaresoft and I'm sorely in need of that. But microtransactions on 3DS? Seriously Square Enix? Seriously?

...and how is IGN doing all these reviews 3 months before launch? I saw they did the new Professor Layton a couple of weeks ago as well.

Yeah, the thought of microtransactions is not pleasant.

Apparently you can buy "sleep points" to perform certain actions in battle. You can also get these same sleep points by leaving the 3DS in sleep mode.

I have no intention of ever using microtransactions and I hope they can be disabled. I dont' want every battle in the RPG to have "attack" "defend" "flee" and "buy shit to make things easier" on the menu.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I've said it over and over, if people keep defending even the smallest examples of microtransactions in typical gaming (ie, non mobile games) it is going to eventually be so widespread it'll be the normal thing, and ultimately may ruin the entire hobby/industry.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

So, as I mentioned last week, I ended up with two Zelda XLs, one of which is the pre-BF $220 price. I'm at a crossroads with what to do. I'm not seeing a lot of demand/markup on eBay right now, so I'm thinking of just returning it and being done. However, we are in the extended holiday return window so I still have until 1/25/14 to do that. Should I hang on to it and see if I can make a couple bucks as opposed to a straight return or just cut my losses and get it over with?

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I would return. Even if you can sell for a minor profit on eBay, you still have to deal with the chance of there being a scammer on the other end of the sale.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I'd stick it on Craigslist right now and see if you get any bites before 1/25/14. If not, I'd return it. You wont be able to make too much more on it on eBay after fees and such. If you sold it for, say, $200 that is $20 just right there that goes to eBay, then PayPal fees. It may end up being worth something, but that wont be until well after January of next year.

If CL isn't your thing, return it.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I bought a 2DS from BB a month ago for $129 for my son for Christmas then picked one up on BF from Walmart for $99.

Took it back to BB last night to get a refund and walked out with $140 in store credit for being outside of the 15-day return policy. Oh well, it's like I bought a $140 GC using my BB credit card.

Luckily, they did refund the $27 balance for buying Fire Emblem last week when it was $40 (it's on sale for $15 now).
