Edge magazine can have some reviews that are off from time to time....(the 5 out of 10 review of the new Final Fantasy got a few Jrpg nerds upset)

I played with this a bit yesterday, and while I like the whole grapple/parachute mechanic, I think the novelty would probably wear off pretty quick.

Most fun thing I did...rode a bike off a super-high cliff, popped the chute, grappled to the top of a jeep and then climbed in the driver's seat. It felt pretty badass, and it's the sort of thing that could be really cool in the next Batman game.

Funniest not-intentional thing I saw...rode a bike off into the middle of nowhere while running from the soldiers and got off, and an armed soldier walked right by me to get to the bike. Then he just sat on it because there was no road. Nice AI!

I agree with their criticism about a lack of cover system. I would die a lot less frequently if they had a decent one and it feels... I don't know, cheap?....to constantly zip away from a firefight in order to heal instead of just seeking cover.

combat does feel a lot like Mercenaries 2...in that you really have to spend time on the outskirts and work your way in. If Merc 2 had more polish it would have been one hell of a game....I hope this game is what Merc 2 should have been.

Anyone play the demo enough to find out if enemies respawn??? Or can you slowly empty a complex if you work your way in???

I'm enjoying the demo but I'm not sure if its enough to make me go out and buy the game.

I liked the first one a lot.

Check it out in the demo--you shoot a large propane tank on your base (1 shot) and right before it shoots up in the air, you grapple hook it and you ride the thing 200 feet in the air! pop open your chute and fly to the enemy base. Lots of fun.

I tried this last night and whats up with the time limit? I didnt have time to have any damn fun. Shitty!

I also played the Yakuza demo and fucked that put me to sleep.

Isn't a time limited open demo much better than just giving you something like a mission to go do?

I say no, Id rather have a mission or 2 and unlimited time to just mess around and have fun. You think having a time limit is better? Why?

Well if it wasn't time limited I probably wouldn't bother buying the full release so you have to figure the company thought that out as well.

So in 30 minutes you weren't able to have any fun with the demo? I mean ultimately I imagine they just want to provide a feel for the open world play style yet still remain just a taste of the full game.

I managed to hijack 9 helicopter, destroy countless others, blow up gas pipelines, and cause major devastation in one 30 minute playthrough. I only wish the demo lasted an hour so I could cause even more mayhem.

It's slightly less awesome looking, but far easier to grapple the tank on the ground, mount it, then shoot it. Same result. Once, trying it your way I manged to accidently tether the tank to a box that then went sailing skyward. Oops.

This is seriously the best demo I've ever seen. It totally makes me want to buy the game more every time I play it.

I enjoyed the demo a lot also...not sure if I will get it Day 1, but it is something I want in the future after I finish a few other games.

If you didn't have any fun in 30 minutes of that game world, you were doing something (extremely) wrong.

I tried your idea Ferris and I couldnt get it to work. Do I have to shoot it RIGHT when it flies off because my hook would let go right away.

I havent even seen helicopters in this game to hijack. Do you need a certain wanted level? I did find a tank and that was cool, than a bunch of paratroopers came down on me and that was neat! So was sky diving out of the plane.

Try it my way : Grapple an upright tank. While straddling it, shoot it. Up you go.

yeah the way I did it, you shoot it with one bullet, wait a second till RIGHT before it blasts off and you grapple and ride it standing on the end of the tank and you shoot straight up--it looks insane. Havent done it laying down though.

I watched the trailer over at Teamxbox and came away with it looks like Fary Cry meets Red Faction but more opened. The destructive engine looks good but I'll have to see a bit more
