If you put a song in a setlist that you haven't currently downloaded, Harmonix will helpfully send a message to your 360 to download the song in question and charge your account automatically! It's really a great time saver and a win for consumers in general.

AC/DC Rock Band for the XBOX360 is going for about 1.50 on Amazon. Pretty good deal if you've been holding out.

I don't know how it is going to work, they only briefly mentioned it.

Interesting & helpful idea, I just hope there is some security around that. I have a huge library now and I'm almost at the point where I can't remember what exactly I have. I'm not sure I'm too fond of charging my account automatically :D

Any word on Rock Band 2 songs being exportable? RB1 was 400 pts for 55 songs, but Lego and Green Day have been 800 pts for less than 50.

who wants to start making guesses as to how much that Strat is going to cost? $200?

If you think it'll only be $60 more for the Mad Catz "half-tar", then you're out of your mind. $60 is not that much of a step for people already shelling out $140 for an instrument. I'm thinking the Squier will be at least $250, but more likely $300.

RB2 export will still be $10/800 pts, more than likely. And all songs will export.

Most likely, I would say it would be 800. I could also see something like codes inside of new RB3 for $5 but if you buy a used copy, it's $15 off marketplace. I just hope they don't try for $15 or $20 no matter what, that would be ludicrous.

also, will we still need our RB1 disc to export those songs again? I sold mine when RB2 came out and don't want to have to buy it again.

Yeah, the MSRP for the lowest-end traditional Squier is $199.99 as it is, retailing anywhere from $120 on up. Since this has more electronic stuff in it (the fret sensors and MIDI out), I agree that it'll probably carry an MSRP between $250 and $300 (and I'm expecting the higher end of that too...maybe $350, but that seems higher than most people would probably be willing to pay). I'd love to be surprised with a lower price, though!

If you've still got the songs on your hard drive, then you won't need to do anything. They're exported to your drive to work just like DLC. If you deleted them for some reason, then yeah, you would need your disc again.

So if you have RB1 and RB2, Lego, Greenday, Track Packs, AC/DC are you going to have to buy export codes for all these?

Shagrath 06-17-10 10:05 AM

Re: Rock Band Thread - This thread was made for Rockin, and that's just what it'll do

With all RB products, once you've done the export, it downloads the songs to your drive and they're treated like DLC. You won't have to "re-export" anything when you move to RB3. Just export RB2 and you're gold.

I just realized I'm going to have to get a larger HDD since I'm already skimped for room on my 20GB. The export for RB2 will probably be quite large, and the DLC files might expand if they start holding more data for Pro mode. I guess it's time to finally trade in some games to Amazon like I've been planning and get a 120 or 250GB hard drive.

Absolutely. There's no way in hell the RB2 download/export will be less than 2gb. Green Day was 1.21gb and I assume this has separate audio tracks for keyboards.

As far as legacy DLC having keyboard support, I think it's really a question of when it was released. I feel like there'll be basically a point in time when everything after that point had it already. There was probably some Tuesday when no one really noticed the song files were a little bigger than normal.

Data for Pro modes would be negligible since it's just simple mapping.

You can easily get a 500gb drive from newegg for about $50-70 depending on if you catch a sale. Well worth it!

I haven't exported Lego yet... How big is that file?
I'm hoping that at least, Final Countdown and Ghostbusters have keyboard support. Maybe Crocodile Rock too?

I'll bet they've been doing this since probably Queen Week.

Got some bad news..

http://www.technewsdaily.com/rock-ba...-guitars-0721/

Now for the bad news: MTV reps said these controllers might not be ready for the release of Rock Band 3 later this year. Understandably, it's a big undertaking to make a real guitar compatible with a music game. Other companies have been working on the same technology for years with similar results.

However, seeing these guitars demoed at E3 is an indication that they will indeed come to market, so guitarists and Rock Band fanatics who want to see how they do on a six-string guitar controller should stay tuned.
