As long as the keyboard or MIDI peripherals are available at launch, I'm cool. I'd love to move onto the pro guitar, but my wallet will be happy with next year too.

Yeah, I'm also fine with them delaying the release of the Realtar, I'll have plenty of other RB3 related things to do until then. Also lessens the instantaneous hurt on my wallet.

I don't think that's necessarily true, Shag. Lego Rock Band knew which songs I'd exported from Rock Band, for instance...listed them specifically as being "Rock Band" rather than normal DLC. I'm pretty sure Rock Band 2 does the same with Lego Rock Band (I've only done that once, so my memory might not be spot-on).

Originally only 55 songs were exported from RB1 from a total of 58. Looks like two more are exportable for RB3.

I think he's assuming since the location screen sorts by game that we'll have to reimport (or export?) for each title. (Or what Fat Tony said lol)

I have Lego RB, RB1 and RB2. I've exported RB1 songs and also exported Lego. When I play Lego, I see songs marked as Lego, RB1 and DLC. But in RB2 I see songs marked as RB1, RB2 and DLC.

But really, it just makes sense that if it's already on your HD then it should be good for RB3. Harmonix doesn't have a really long history of screwing us over, it'll probably just be exporting RB2 to RB3.

I still have the disc, but if memory serves me, I probably won't even bother pulling the others off if this is the case. (I don't remember really caring about the ones that didn't carry over.)

Maybe they've updated those tracks for all the new stuff and also added back in two of the three non-exportable tracks. If if is needed again, I'd just buy it used from Gamestop and return it the next day.

And the Lego tracks show up as just downloaded tracks in RB2. For me, anyway.

Which would leave the Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath tracks as the ones that are added back in, and they're both covers. If my existing RB1 export still works, then I'll pass.

Edit: Just realized the actual Iron Maiden song was later released as DLC, so it's probably the Metallica and Sabbath tracks. I might track down a disc if it meant getting "Enter Sandman." That could also mean that Guitar Hero's exclusivity window for Metallica may be over, which could lead to more Metallica in RB.

This is exactly right. 57 instead of 55. That means that two more songs might become exportable. I'm assuming Enter Sandman and Paranoid.

All 58 songs work on their devkits that they tote around for these events. So having only 57 there might mean something different (as in we're getting two songs back). Or it could be nothing. I don't know anything for certain right now.

Okay, Enter Sandman would be worth tracking down a disc. That was one of the best songs in RB1. The other 2 being covers are totally skippable.
