OK..I know I could dig for it online, so indulge me and know I'm ashamed, but can someone tell me what I'll need to do to include the cymbal add ons? Are they compatible with the RB1 kits or will I have to upgrade to RB2 or later?

Look on the back of your RB1 kit. Are there inputs for the cymbals?

Cymbals would not be compatible with RB1, since it has no inputs for them.

I actually leave my house during the day, so I'm not at my kit. And honestly I've probably never even thought to look. But judging from your response, and that there is no direct answer, I'm assuming the answer to be no.

Thanks?

Thanks sir. :)

I don't think I've ever even seen a RB2 kit to notice any differences between the two. That blows for me I guess. :(

Yes, you will have to upgrade to a RB2+ kit. Also, I'm so hurt by the attack on my work location that I may just go drink myself into a nap and watch Oprah, you monster!

That's the problem. No matter what I could say you're still at home and I'm in this goddamn office. No win situation for me. (Until I burn your house down of course.)

Fro - you'll be much happier with the RB2 drums anyway. Worth the upgrade.

I fail to see the problem ;)

I guess I'll just have to be on the lookout for RB2 kit deals. Don't want to have to double it up on the new instruments I'll have to get with RB3 though. :(

Fro - you'd be much happier with Ion drums and a Rock Pedal.

It's too bad Amazon isn't still giving these away for $50 and bunch of bunch of crappy used games.

Fro - you'd be much happier burning down Pinata's house and stealing his drums.

I have 3 sets of RB2 drums here. I use them as tethered anchors to keep my 18x90 single wide on solid ground.

So if I just steal one of those I should be good to go? Both for setting up for the cymbals and destroying your house?

I think my keyboard has a MIDI output, I might buy that adaptor for it instead of getting the peripheral.

There's something pretty fascinating about the idea of playing one of my Moogs (my older one predates MIDI, but my new one supports it) with a video game, but I'm kind of tempted to get the Rock Band keyboard anyway just so I don't have to plug anything in. I usually play in the middle of the room, and all of the convenient power outlets already have stuff in 'em or have furniture in the way.

Maybe I'm missing something, but one guitar has 17 frets worth of buttons and the other guitar has strings and 22 frets. How are we supposed to be playing (for real) a Megadeth solo that was played with a 24 fret Jackson?

The Ion kit is awesome. I destroyed 2 of the Rock Band 2 kits before I bought the Ion though. Fucking Snare pad bubbles up like a motherfucker.

Mentioned in one of the videos, but www.rockband.com/press has some really nice high-res shots of the game

The whole "party shuffle mode" mode sounds awesome. Sounds like at the main menu, you can just jump into playing a song, and then you can quickly shuffle through tracks whenever you want without having to deal with any menus.

Is it *insert RB3 release date* yet?

edit: Also, being able to create Setlists on RockBand.com and upload them to your system sounds awesome! That is going to be an epic time-suck for me while I'm at work.

All of this sounds great, but is there a pig-man mode to stay even with Guitar Hero?!

There hasn't been any mention of RB.com letting us manage our libraries or even doing it automatically, is there? Or are we just going to have to create online setlists from the huge master list and not necessarily filtered to our collections?
