That's what I heard. Has anyone tried it? If someone was willing to add me and give it a go with me we could see if this information is real or not. I have a mic but I would be unsure about the person on the other end as none of my friends have the game. Let me know if anyone is willing. Thanks!!!

Sorry shea - I was in the middle of data backup to my new slim and fell asleep plus I didn't have my mic paired but I guess that wouldn't have mattered. Next time I'm we could test.

Apparently I screwed up by choosing 3B as my RTTS primary position. It's really tough to level up my player without getting a lot of plays in the field. The only way I seem to get many chances is when I get plugged in at 1B. I tried to sim it out to see if the CPU can help out, but my stats just decline terribly. I'm afraid after several seasons of kicking around in the minors and having most of my grades stay at D or F, I'm going to retire and choose something else.

my friend tried it out earlier w/ the headset and he said it works.. the only complaint he has was when going through menus it would keep turning the mic on and off

Another RTTS moment:

I get a single and I'm given the sign to steal. I go on first movement and it's a pickoff move. I actually make it to second after a couple fake outs. I don't see any status on the goal yet. Next guy hits a single and I come around to score. At that point I get the -10 Not Attempted.

I know some situations are rare, but I would think making it to the base you wanted to steal even when there's a pickoff move from the pitcher should be fairly easy to plan for.

RTTS is also kind of annoying when it comes to bunting. Just silly, unrealistic situations and frequency. I just had a guy bunt againt my team on 3-0 and 3-1 counts with a 13-0 lead. I see 3-0 bunts pretty damn often too.

One thing that is really pissing me the fuck off about this game is that it does not keep my classic baserunning controls setting. I have it saved that way in the regular menu as well as my profile that I use for my season, yet every game it switches back to the default baserunning controls. I just played two games back to back (did not turn system off between games or anything) and right away in the second game my guy rips one off the top of the wall but I got fucked into it being a single because the controls switched back.

Saw some Matrix-type shit tonight. Rollins comes up to bat and before he gets to the plate he stops and his bat is just hovering in the air like the Silver Surfer's board. After he gets done adjusting his batting gloves or whatever, he reaches out like this is perfectly normal and grabs his bat out of the air.

That's awesome.

Was it the pink bats? I heard those were glitched.

I had something like this happen. My guy was taking his practice swing and the bat just hovered there. Then it appeared in his hand and the game went on like normal.

Nah, it was just the regular bat. I didn't even know they had the pink bats in there, that's very cool.

What was the weirdest part about this one was that the bat didn't warp back into his hands like you would expect from some graphical glitch or anything, he reached out and grabbed it from where it was hovering like it was supposed to be there waiting for him.

By the way, this game is just 100% pure awesome. All I can think about all day at work is getting back to playing The Show.

Is there some secret trick to get this game to display in 1080p?
I have the PS3 set to display up to 1080p but The Show always comes up in 720p.

nickdawgy 04-03-10 12:42 AM

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

I never noticed it was in 720p. I thought all Sony first party games were 1080p?

Drexl 04-03-10 01:00 AM

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

Usually, games are 720p native, and will display at that resolution if it's available. This game (and some others) will display in 1080p if you uncheck 720p in the video options, but it's just upscaling.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

This game reminds me so much of playing golf. It's so fun and yet so incredibly frustrating at the same time. It's hard enough to score runs as it is, but the frustratingly awful overcomplicated controls make me want to throw my controller through the wall. Every time there is a wild pitch I press the correct buttons (I actually am getting the Mortal Kombat combos down for advancing runners) and the runner does nothing for a bit and when he finally decides to go it's too late and he ends up getting thrown out.
Fuck whoever designed the baserunning controls for this game.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

I was playing the other day, and I hit a ground ball to the second baseman. The ball bounced in the air right before he could field it, and smacked him right in the face and rolled a few feet away from him. No reaction from the announcers or crowd though.

Pretty funny anyway.

i have never been more frustrated w/ a game than i have w/ this game! i finally started a season now that the roster update was available. now, mind u, ive only played a few innings of an exhibition game and then a rtts as a pitcher. the amount of glitches and errors in this game is bullshit!

does anyone remember the 'feature' from last years version that would 'allow' the computer to catch up if u were winning? and this feature was glitched where u had to actually have it turned 'on' for it to actually be turned 'off' ? Im wondering if the feature was just added into the game and not allowed to be turned off.

once i start scoring runs, the computer INSTANTLY will comeback the next inning regardless. ive noticed once the game is in the 7th/8th inning and if i take the lead, the computer will make an unbelieveable comeback to the extent of my infielders dropping ground balls, missing line drives when diving, outfielders will 'jump' to catch a flyball when they are in the target to catch it and miss, infielders not covering bases, or outfielders standing still while only my user controlled fielder goes after the ball.

plus the fact that everytime i hit the ball and it goes to be a homerun, it will ALWAYS be caught by the outfielder or it will always bounce off the top of the wall and be considered a ground rule double.

ive even lowered the difficulty back to rookie (which im ashamed to say) and even messed w/ the sliders to my advantage, and it makes it worse.

wtf happened to this game! im really at the point where i dont even wanna play this game anymore bc its not worth the frustration, but one of the main reasons i got the ps3 was for this damn game!

-deep breath-

Despite many (most?) people saying that there is no miracle comeback algorithm programmed into the game, I have had it happen to me enough times to make me wonder.

Most recent example? I'm ahead 6-2. It's the top of the 8th. I bring in a new pitcher. Long story short: they hit a grand slam off me, just like that.

Maxflier 04-07-10 11:03 PM

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

I've never noticed any miracle comeback cheating by the computer. Granted the only time I'm ever ahead in games, it's not by very much. But like the game I just played I led 5-0 from around the 5th inning on and they only hit a solo homer in the ninth. I won the game 5-1.

Pretty much the same for me when the ball hit the infielder in the face.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd

Got a huge and annoying glitch today. I complained about my teams chemistry and was told "we're fine" and was benched a game. Apparently seven losses in a row in the middle of a pennant race is fine, but anyway.

I miss the game, and then get told I am being demoted to the bench for good for not showing team morale. Yeah, I only lead the league in Avg, HR, RBI, Doubles, and Runs.

So I complain about not getting starts, and the manager says the typical "You've earned a spot back in the lineup." The next game it shows me being added as a pinch hitter in the first inning. I figure oh well, maybe I'll start the next game.

The next game I get inserted as a pinch hitter in the second inning. The game after that, the game after that, the next one, the one after that, the one after that, etc.

The weird thing is it shows that I had an at bat that wasn't controlled by me. Sometimes it's in my favor (a homer for example) sometimes it's not (strikeout). So here I am getting to bat maybe two or three times a game, and getting stats for a phantom at bat.

Pissing me off big time. I missed a career milestone, too.
