Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
So, anyone do this yet? Just curious...I asked a few posts back, but may have got lost with my firmware comment above.
Also, as for MOVING files from one PS3 to another. Not sure if people GAMESHARE, but does it move ALL of your accounts and do the whole de-activate/activate your account? Also, in regards to the 3D Blu-Ray. Apparently, the Monsters vs Aliens 3D is working on about half the PS3's only. Not sure what is causing the issue. This sucks, since it is my only 3D movie at this point. |

The Auto Download did download firmware 3.50, but it did not install. It also downloaded some update for Toy Story 3 (which I rented), so apparently it will download GAME updates.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Anyone else having problems w/ the Netflix streaming disc since the new update? I can't get either of the ones I have to work, I only get a "This video cannot be played (80029940)" error. All other discs (DVD, bluray, game) seem to work fine and the videos I have stored on the PS3 itself seem fine... just the Netflix disc is screwed up. Why do we still need a disc anyway? Why not just build it into the machine already :mad2:

The discless version (sort of like Walter Peck) is supposed to hit in October. Shirley, this isn't a coincidence.

I've had no problems with my Netflix disc since updating to 3.50 yesterday.

The good thing is, you can just request a new disc from Netflix. |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Maybe someone here can help me with this. I'm having a weird problem with my PS3. I have a 60GB and I'm using an Onkyo 605. For some reason, I can't get any sound from my rear surrounds when playing a DVD or Blu-ray. I can get sounds from the rear in video games, but only if I turn my character away from the action (which I know often is the way video games are designed, but usually they have ambient sound in the rear if you're facing the action). It's like there's no signal being sent to those speakers at all with DVD or Blu-ray. I swapped out the HDMI cable, no change. I plugged the 360 into the HDMI port where the PS3 was plugged in, got sound fine from DVDs. Anyone have any ideas why it might be doing this?

Yeah, it's on Linear PCM. I switched it to bitstream, made no difference, so I changed it back.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
do you have multi-audio output on? I know when you turn that on, it limits what audio can be sent out the hdmi (I assume the rears should work though).

PCM should be correct, as the original models won't pass the bitstream for lossless. Do a manual audio setup and make sure all the relevant sampling rates and stuff are checked off. If you have a 5.1 system, uncheck the 7.1 options if they are checked now. Also, make sure the receiver is set for "multichannel," not one of the Dolby or DTS options. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
I'll do that in the morning, thanks.
Another annoyance regarding my PS3: I decided to try out Playstation Plus tonight. Well, the PS3 didn't like the credit card I had listed in there. So I went to change it. Wouldn't take. Tried another card. Wouldn't take. I found out I had to list everything exactly as it's listed on my bill, including my name and address being in all caps. So I try that. Turns out I've tried so many times that the system has locked me out for 24 hours. I can't wait to call Sony Customer Service tomorrow and bitch so loud and so long that they hang up on me. If this system weren't the best and most well supported Blu-ray player on the market, I'd sell it for scrap. |

Has anyone watched a 3D movie on the PS3 yet? Any feedback on the performance?

I hope to get Samsung to replace my disc, so I can watch one. |

Not yet...my Monsters vs Aliens will NOT work on my PS3. Apparently, there is a bad batch of discs that will NOT play on the PS3. Looking on AVSForums, it appears to be mixed depending on the TV it is played on.
I hope to get Samsung to replace my disc, so I can watch one. I still have my Sammy 5900 hooked up in addition to the PS3 but I absolutely hate the playback functionality of the Sammy as a DVD player compared to the PS3. |

Well, my 40gb PS3 just got the YLOD. And so goes my 500gb of music, videos and game saves down with it. :brickwl2: Really ticks me off that the hard drive is encrypted in such a way where you can't even salvage your own music and video files.

Yes, it is a real bitch and the one major point of contention I have with Sony's gaming system as I've had the YLOD twice on two different 60s and both times I lost a bunch of stuff. I had 320gb drives in each of them and basically all of that went to waste so it is like a kick to the nuts along with the stomp in the face from your system going down. Sony really needs to think twice about this and fix this problem.

The exact listing can be an issue so hopefully that works. Also though there are times when the billing info section just doesn't work and you have to wait a day or two (that's happened to me once.)

And to add even more frustration, I've read it's a real pain trying to get Sony to deactivate a system that hasn't been sent in to their own official repair.
