Jakffe didn't direct 2 either. Corey Barlog did. he left as well, but I'm sure they will handle the transition fine.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
HDMI issue…my PS3 has worked fine w/ my Hitachi 51s715 for the last couple years. I have a switchbox with Dish DVR, 360 and PS3 attached to it. Over the weekend the TV stopped displaying the PS3. I get a blank screen with no audio (digital audio still works thru the receiver). I have tried the following:
1. bypass switchbox 2. new HDMI cable 3. hold power button until 2nd beep 4. unplug TV and PS3 over night 5. hook PS3 up via composite (works fine) and then try to switch to HDMI 6. attach PS3 to second TV thru HDMI (works fine), leave on, unplug from 2nd TV and attach HDMI to TV 7. adjust PS3 display settings to 1080i while attached to 2nd TV then attach to TV 8. latest PS3 update None of these worked, meanwhile, the Dish DVR and 360 still work fine via HDMI (as well as an upconverting DVD player and my HD camcorder). The TV recognizes a source, just doesn’t display anything. (At first it said 480p but after changing the settings with the 2nd TV, it now shows 1080i (also tried 720p) as the source…just a black screen) My next option is to forget HDMI and pick up component cables. Anybody have any thoughts? |

Similarly, I want to have high hopes for Bioshock 2 and Crackdown 2, but both are being done by new teams/companies than their predecessors so I'm keeping my expectations in check. Just something to chew on. :) |

Since your PS3 seems work through HDMI on another TV it sounds like its your Hitachi thats the problem. Is there a way to do a factory reset of all settings on that TV?
I read on another forum that reformatting the PS3 might solve the problem as well, but I don't really want to give that a shot unless it is guaranteed to fix it. |

Definitely buying it when it comes out. The one thing I do think it needs is auto targeting. That can be a bit tricky at times constantly making sure your aim is lined up correctly with all your movements. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Well, I'm late to this party, but I just tried out the GT5 demo. My God, that's amazing looking. Quite honestly, the most realistic looking game I've ever seen. Sure it's just as hard and unforgiving as GT has always been and I'll probably not play it more than a handful of times, but wow. Not only are the cars photo-realistic, but the track, or should I say The Track? I've seen many races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and that is exactly what it looks like when the road course is up -- I've been to a couple of Grand Prix events there. I was really floored. As much as I'm tired of race games and as good as Forza 3 is, this demo might have sold me...

For me, the gameplay in GoW was mediocre at best. I was in it for the story. I do worry that with Jaffe being gone that it'll suffer in that regard, but I hope they have enough foundation and precedent to know where to go with it.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
I can't find the rubber rings that came with my Bluetooth headset (offical ps3 one). From several google searches, it doesn't appear that sony or any other place has these for sale. Anyone know of an earpiece that will fit? The rubber ring isn't that secure to begin with. Or any ideas? I know the headset came with an extra, but I've been unable to find it.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Trying to upgrade to a 320HD but am having a problem backing up my PS3 hardrive
I have a 400+gb FAT32 formatted hard drive hooked up to it I run the Backup Utility It sits at 0% for a while, then tells me 3+ hours are remaining...then I get error 80010012 Looking around:google: it seems I may be screwed as I've tried the few suggestions I've read but was hoping someone here might have a tip-pray- This is what I have tried so far: -Deleted junk I don't need -restored system settings -cut off the system and turn it back on with the hardrive plugged in -tried to run the utility at least 6 times Any other tips out there? I have a few PSN purchases that I don't want to lose. If I can't back up the PS3 drive will it let me download again from the account menu that shows downloaded stuff I've purchased? |

How did you format the drive? Remember that Windows' built-in format tool will only format up to 32GB. |

What size rubber ring do you wear? I have an extra small and large from my jawbone. I would be willing to send you one through the regular mail. PM me if interested.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
also, since you're allowed to download a paid add-on or game up to 5 times, can't we just create a dummy account, buy a map pack or something, and then share it with 4 peeps here? Sony allows this, so I'm don't think there's a moral issue here...

Yes, you can download those again if they are games/DLC. Videos are one time only.

I actually found one of the extras last night. I think I'm good, but appreciate the offer. Are we sure the jawbone rings will fit on the official ps3 one?

There are tons of threads on the playstation forums about how difficult it is to find replacements. If this fits, it'll help out many people. For the greater good!!!! |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Just an FYI: Firmware 3.15, which was released last month and was optional, has now been changed to mandatory.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Is it me, or is there absolutely no one talking about the March release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2?
Is anyone else thinking about getting this? I'm having a tough time deciding between this, Bioshock 2, and Aliens vs. Predator, for which to spend my trade credit on ... |

That's because February is going to be best month ever in gaming...
But yeah, I'm curious about BC2, just because they are saying that they are going for MW2 now. |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Has anyone tried the Lost Planet 2 demo? THoughts? I tried it last night and though rather generic, with NO voicework or full out sound/music. THe final boss fight was pretty damn awesome. Almost like Uncharted "Starship Troopers" style. The guns and explosions were pretty awesome! Im really looking forward to this game.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
So, Sony has received my YLOD 60gb system, but they say slims are back ordered. Of course they have charged me though. As the PS3 is my only system, I hope I don't have to wait too long. It is back-ordered at bestbuy.com and gamestop.com as well.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Quick question for the PS3 pros:
A co-worker just bought a PS3 over the weekend and cannot stay connected to PSN. He hasn't been able to finish a single download. He says his firmware is up to date. He is using wireless on it and can't really run a cable. Any ideas? |
