I thought it was funny that the other day on Facebook that Playstation.com had put up a post featuring new video releases for this week, saying "New to PSN : Leap Year". I imagine most PS3 owners had to get a chuckle out of that one.

They are imbedded directly into the sound and are there as much as the rest of the sound is when it's copied with any kind of sound device. They aren't a bit attached to the print, it's completely in the sound, and since it's right there, then any kind of microphone picks it up right along with the sound.

I think it's gotten to the point where they know they can't completely prevent it. More like annoy the shit out of them and hopefully they will buy it instead of going through all the trouble.

So since my 360 is busted and my Wii is a Wii, I was thinking of picking up a PS3 but everyone seems to be sold out. WTF? Did I fall into a time warp and wind up at Christmas 2007? What possible excuse is there for being unable to buy a console 30 months after launch?

F you Sony. And F Microsoft for making a console that breaks so easily. And F Nintendo for making a console with a funky controller that makes games less fun than they should be. :grunt:

Join the club. I had to buy my 120gb ps3 off amazon for $369(before tax :() but it was well worth it

Amazon is sold out. Target is sold out. Best Buy is sold out. Gamestop is sold out online -- I'll call tomorrow and see if they have any in-store.

I had to replace my busted PS3 on Saturday, and I wound up in the same baffling position. No dice at Amazon. No dice at the Target closest to me. No dice at Best Buy. The Wal-Mart across the street did have some 120 GB PS3, but they were locked up and the price tag was for the 250, and I didn't feel like having someone open the case and scan it. For whatever reason, almost every other Target in my neck of the woods had one according to their online inventory, so I was able to get one on my fourth try. :)

When I bought my first PS3 three years ago, there were stacks and stacks and stacks of these things everywhere. Even with that initial price drop, no one seemed to want to bite. Now I guess they're a hot commodity.

Amazon has the 120gb for $299, but they don't have the 250gb.

Even for the 120, they let you order it but say they are out of stock and they'll ship it when it becomes available.

I've had a busy PS3 week. My 60gb launch PS3 got the YLOD 10 days ago, so I looked around on craigslist and found a guy who could fix it for $80 (well worth it due to the $60 game stuck inside). It took him 1 day to fix it and then he tested it for another day. So far everything seems good.

I also decided to go out and buy a 120gb slim only yo find out that the PS3's are selling out all over the area. The first Best Buy I went to was sold out, but luckily the second one had 2 left. The lady working in the games section said that they could barely keep them on the shelves.

I'm not so much concerned about my PS3 dieing as I am about if/when it does die, what to do about transferring all the info from the old hard-drive to the new one.

I have a 500GB seagate hard drive I use as a backup. I back up my data every other Sunday late at night. I delete unnecessary files every 2 weeks and my backup ends up being @ 96GB. Takes like 3 or 4 hrs to backup while I am asleep

Unless you make a backup before it dies then forget about transferring the data as it is impossible.

I keep my PS3 saves backed up to a CF card (my old PS3 has a card slot for it). I keep my 360 saves on two 360s and a USB stick. Of course this excludes the games that prevent you backing up your save. If my PS3 dies I can say goodbye to my progress on Rock Band, but most of my stuff is backed up.

Whoa! I never saw your initial post but why is the Fat getting all the hate? I got mine Sept 08 and its going good. I dont watch movies on it and theres times when I dont play my PS3 for months. Why is it critical to remove the game when shutting down?

It's weird that everyone is commenting on the lack of PS3's around, but this has been the case since January. I've had several friends look to buy them since then and they have been next to impossible to find, it's hit and a lot of miss.

Give it a little more time. :) A pretty hefty percentage of the people who are getting the 'yellow light of death' (and I'm one of 'em) had it happen really close to the 3 year mark. I bought mine July '07, I think, and it died May '10.
