Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Sony's E3 Press Conference:

Jack Tretton: So, as you can see, we have taken every possible precaution to ensure that hackers will never again attack our network and steal the personal information of our...

(man runs up to Jack from backstage, whispering in his ear)

Jack: What? ... Again? ... Just a few minutes ago? ... But the credit card info is safe, right? ... NO?!

(Jack turns deathly pale. His cheeks puff out as he slaps a hand over his mouth and runs off stage.)

(Kaz Hirai walks out.)

Kaz: Everything is perfectly fine. The press conference is now over. Thank you all for coming.

(Kaz's expression slowly changes from cheerful to panicked, as he realizes what he must do. He pulls a dagger from under the podium, then commits seppuku, live on stage.)

Aaaaaand, scene.

No it won't, the Other OS is just their excuse and how they can justify it, they will find something else if they readd other os.

However, if you have the exact cost of the PSN+ or more in your electronic wallet, it will renew itself unless you cancel subscription manually. I have roughly $67 in my electronic wallet right now because I loaded a $50 card before the outage along with some money I had left over.
You need to go to Account Management, Transaction Management and Cancel Subscription on your XMB.

In regards to the hackers, they can all go fuck themselves! I have no sympathy for them or their actions.

Or if you're just adding funds for future purchases, the physical cards make great filler items to get the free shipping from Amazon.

You sure about that? I thought it said before "purchasing" the free 30 days, that it would not auto renew.

I read that it WILL auto-renew as well. I passed because I know I'll forget about it.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

In addition, we're giving access to our premium subscription service, PlayStation Plus, which includes games, huge discounts, exciting exclusives and added features like online storage and automatic downloads, to all PSN members for 30 days at no charge, requiring no long term commitment. As with the games above, go to the PlayStation Store and under the 'Welcome Back' section, select 'PlayStation Plus: 30 Days Free', and you'll be given access to all of the benefits of PlayStation Plus. Note that this will not auto-renew and simply expires 30 days after activation.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

I decided that this would be the opportune time to upgrade my nearly full 60GB hard drive. I picked up a 500GB HD on Amazon this week for $60 along with a set of precision screwdrivers, and I already had a 1TB portable drive. I format the 1TB drive in FAT32 format, plug in the portable drive to the PS3, and start the backup via the PS3 menu, then.... 16 hours estimate to finish? I thought maybe it would pick up, but I let it run overnight and it still is 7 hours from completion. At this point (about 2/3rds complete), I don't want to end the backup process, but I can't imagine that it was supposed to take this long. Hopefully the restore portion of the process doesn't take another 16 hours. Not sure what I did wrong, my guess is that it should not take more than an hour or so to backup 60GB from one drive to another.

My bad. I was pretty sure that I read that it autorenew for PSN+ users (non Welcome Back program) though, unless I'm mistaken about that too...

So these full game PSPlus trials...can you only play for 60 minutes at a time, or 60 minutes total. They sure don't make reading this shit easy.

Too bad I already bought most of the free games anyway.
Still Dead Nation, Super Star Dust, Sonic 2 and Street of Rage 2 for free.

Does Amazon carry physical PSN cards? Every time I've looked, I've only seen them from 3rd party sellers (usually Target is the first listed one).

I went with inFAMOUS as one of my free games. I just finished L.A. Noire, and quite frankly I'm looking for a change of pace -- I'm tired of playing an open-world as a guy named "Cole" who runs around investigating explosions and climbing drainpipes!

You should have deleted some game installs before you did the backup. However, I backed up a friends and he had around 35gbs of data and the backup didn't even take two hours. There must be something wrong on your end for it to take as long as it has.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Couple of questions, I havent touched the free games and PS+ and may give it a bit before getting it, but what I wonder about the PS+, whatever I get with that it expires after the 30 days right? Games and themes and everything else I get for free will be gone in a month?

This is a Netflix question, if I get this for my PSN, can I get it on another TV in another room? Like on my Wii, in the other room?

The free stuff will expire, but I think the discounted stuff remains. The free stuff is mostly Minis.

You don't get a Netflix account specifically for a particular platform. You just sign in with your existing account on any machine that supports it.

Shitty on the free stuff. With my huge backlog I wont even get around to playing most of it. I was hoping themes and stuff would be the exception.

Thats awesome on the Netflix. I may have to go for that if I can get it in multiple rooms. I think I need a disc though for the PS3 (still?) and Wii. Bah, I gotta do research

Netflix no longer requires the disc for PS3, not sure about the Wii though. And yes you can use your Netflix account in multiple places. I had it playing on my PS3 and was able to use the Netflix app on my phone with no issues.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

The only things that expire are the free games. Themes, avatars, and anything purchased at a discount will stay. I'm not sure, but I think Minis and free DLC don't expire either. Don't quote me on that though. It will tell you when you download something if it will expire when your subscription ends.

OK, looking around, I'm probably wrong on the Minis and DLC, but I know you keep the the free themes, avatars and discounted items.

All console's NF implementations are disc less now.

"Is this true?"

"Yes, it's true. This Netflix implementation has no disc."
