Kinect is being priced @ $149.99 around various retailers. If this is the case, I don't see it having much chance. They need to price it at $99.99 bucks including a game. If they want any chance of this succeeding.

I'm not even sure I'd buy it at that price point -- I guess it depends on the game they included. I think Kinetic would lay collecting dust next to my Xbox camera, my wireless headphone that works when it feels like it, my Xbox keypad that SUCKS to try and snap on to the controller and my PS3 eye camera or whatever it's called. IMO Microsoft will need a killer game to move that peripheral.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I don't think I'm going to buy Kinect initially but remember that it's for casual gamers. So my guess is the first people buying it is going to be married w/kids hardcore gamers. The ones that have at least 2 consoles at home and would like to share one with their kids and/or wife.
Yeah, I'm married and with two girls, the 10 years old is actually a gamer, but I don't want to share any of my two consoles with them. :p |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
The 10 years old actually commented about that during dinner. "I saw on tv about this Kinect thing for the Xbox, it looks really cool..."
I didn't say anything. |

Ooops, wrong thread.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Also, for those who may be interested in the original old-school retro white arcade... Target is selling them for $130 with a $50 gift card.

So apparently I won 800 MS points through the Spalding contest on my girlfriend's phone. I say apparently because she deleted the message thinking it was spam and now the contest won't let me enter anymore.
Anyone know how to get a deleted text message off an iphone? |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I get the same message and I haven't won shit. Their messages are broken.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Pretty good Friday.
Picked up a $130 Arcade bundle from Target for $130 with a $50 gift card. Then traded in my LAUNCH 360 to gamestop for the $100 credit deal towards a new 360 slim, along with a 64 MB mem card and the bundled games from the Target bundle I bought (along with a filler game) and got a new slim for about $175 out of pocket. This thing is whisper quiet compared to my launch unit. Slapped my 120 GB from my older unit on the new arcade unit from target and put it downstairs. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
So what happens with the harddrive when a new 360 slim inevitably breaks and needs repairs? Are you stuck with going to MS to fix it, or is there a way to transfer the data from a busted 360 slim to a new slim? I'm on my 4th original 360, so this is a pretty major issue for me.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
what do you mean? Aren't you supposed to keep the hard drive when you send your Xbox for repair?

i doubt they want you pulling that out, without voiding the warranty... (but i havent seen how the harddrive works on it, might have a sled to easily remove). |

I remember when I sent my original Xbox in for repair (internal hard drive). They assured me my saves would be retained -- nope, they just sent out a refurb unit with a wiped drive. :( |

i keep seeing the ads for espn3 on 360
to me, this would be HUGE, so Im really looking forward to it I havent seen many actual details though.. anyone know when this is actually launching and will be available to use? |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
No launch date yet, but logic dictates that if they miss college football kick-off, they've failed miserably.

Yes, with the 360Phat. uberjoe is asking about the slim.
:( Is the hard drive sealed so you can't remove it? |

As long as you can remove that drive without voiding the warranty, I'm cool.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
From the video that seems to be case. Maybe one of the early adopters can comment about that.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Of course you can. They'll need you to when the 400gb drives come out in March.

Unfortunately, it looks like they are still stuck with getting your ISPs approval, so as cool as I think this will be, I won't be able to use it.
You can go to espn3.com and see if you'll be able to access it. If you can play the streams you're good to go, if not you'll be out of luck. |

Really? That's a HUGE distinction that they forgot to mention in their press conferences. Thankfully, I do get that service through my ISP, though.

I checked the list, and of the 2 available here (and one soon to be available) that have enough speed to be worthwhile, none of them are on it.
