Yeah it's completley dead, nothing loads up except an E79 Error Screen so i can't back it up now. I might start doing that in the future before it dies so i don't run into this problem again.

I was able to exchange the dead system for another one and keep my hard drive so I'm happy.

I don't know if this will still work (it's an old card I found while cleaning out some stuff), but here's a free month of XBox Live if anyone wants it.

Please post if you used it.

Hey, I used it. Thanks. I missed out on the Netflix promo X 2, so this sort of makes up for it.

(I don't own a 360, so if I get anything, I'll post it here.)

Has anybody successfully used a Tivo Wireless Adapter to connect their 360 to the internet?

Sorry if this has been asked multiple times, but are there any viable alternatives to the official 360 wireless adapter or should I just suck it up and pay the $90?

Alternatives exist, but it's a matter of what you're willing to do.

I, for example, use a Buffalo WHR-54GS router flashed with dd-wrt to turn it into a 4-port wireless bridge. It's cheaper and more flexible, but requires another power outlet and isn't as elegant because it doesn't clip onto the xbox.

There are some 3rd party adapters that work with the 360. Check out the TRENDnet Wireless N Gaming Adapter. Amazon has it on sale for $45.

Basically any wireless bridge will work. A wireless bridge is connected to the 360 using an ethernet cable (network cable, RJ45, etc.).
I'm using a refurbished Linksys wireless N bridge, $20 or so, in my Arcade console. I'm also using an official Wireless G adapter in my Elite and I don't see any difference between them.

You missed a ddozie last week when Buy.com was selling them for $28.99 shipped through ebay. I got one even though I'm already paid thru 2/2012. At that price I sort of had to.

The best now is $39.99 at Best Buy.

If you want to wait for a better deal, you can bide your time with a $12.49 3-month card (shipped) from Buy.com. You might find another $30-$35 12 month card in that time.

Looks like Hulu is coming to Xbox Live. Sounds like they will announce it at E3.

That would be pretty cool.

Another reason to keep my gold subscription to live even thought I never play online...

What's the fee though? That's the question we need to know.

Hulu would get me to buy a second 360.

+1

Could this be the catalyst that forces Netflix to silver users? Hulu for Gold subscribers?

Should still be free for the 5 most recent episodes of any given show. That was the last I read on Hulu's plans on charging.

Im sure this gets asked every other week.. but i dont really follow the thread, so....

once you see the RROD, can you pretty much expect it to keep coming back until you're eventually dead?

i saw it on my 1 1/2 yr old elite for the first time a couple days ago.. my son says he saw it before in the past, but didnt tell me (not sure if this is true...
powering off, and back on.. the xbox came back up

since then.. i have seen it 2-3 more times.. each time, either disconnecting power, blowing the dust out of the back, etc... has got it to come back up..

the last thing i did.. was blow out all the dust.. and since then, its been coming on and off without issue... but was just curious if seeing the RROD meant imminent failure and that i should go ahead and start on the repair/replacement process?

Having just cut the cable a week and a half ago, having direct access to Hulu through the 360 would be perfect! Hopefully they tie in ESPN3 too.

Mine was intermittent, and eventually it died. Personally I see no harm in starting the repair request. They give you a shipping label. I had the label for probably 3 weeks before I sent it in.

I'm not aware of any stories where a person got the red ring a few times, and the system didn't eventually die, but maybe someone else has better information.

I am ecstatic about the Hulu announcement. The playon plugin has become annoying.

Quick question. I have had problems lately streaming my computer videos to my Xbox. I can't seem to find any folders or files anymore. Any tips? I'm running Windows 7. It worked fine when I had Vista.
