Just curious, but why would you want to pay now for Xbox Live service three years from now? We all assume that the service will be the same and that we'll still want it, but what if the 720 really is used-locked-out or download-only? I, for one, want to wait and see what the next generation holds before I start to re-up for 2014 and beyond.

For the last 3 years or so I've been covered for 3 years of service, right now I'm covered until February 2015. In my case the deals were really great, $30 or less for 1 year of Xbox Live. So that's the main reason.

That's exactly why. I picked up one of the 1yr cards of ebay the other day and $29.99 (50% off) is as cheap as your going to see them nowadays.

So I worked out a deal with a friend that has Direct Tv. I pay for him to get HBO then I can use his username information to set up HBO GO on my xbox. Is it going to be as simple as just entering in a username and PW like it is on my Android phone?

HBO Go can't be used in two places simultaneously. If that doesn't allow for a premium, I don't know what does

If someone else is already logged onto HBOGo, you will be locked out trying to log into it. It happened to me once. I logged in at work to watch something during lunch and forgot to sign out. When I tried to sign in at home, I was locked out.

He didn't have an xbox so I don't have to worry about him logging in. This is my plan b if it really won't be available through Comcast.

So tomorrow's the big day?
From: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...-mlb-tv-304304
Microsoft is set to announce that subscribers to the Internet-connected console recently started using their device more often for TV, movies and music than for games.
Microsoft’s newest partnerships for its Xbox Live launches on Tuesday with thousands of hours of content from HBO Go, Comcast’s Xfinity TV and Major League Baseball’s MLB.TV, all of it controllable through voice or gesture commands via its Kinect device.
The Xbox Live has been morphing into an everything-entertainment device, and a slew of partnerships from the likes of Lovefilm and Epix joined others like Netflix and Hulu Plus in December. The three partners joining Tuesday were expected some time this year.
On Monday, Microsoft’s chief marketing officer for its interactive entertainment business Yusuf Mehdi told The Hollywood Reporter that entertainment usage like TV, music and movies on the Xbox 360 has overtaken multiplayer games usage.
Mehdi said the three new apps launching Tuesday amount to “probably the biggest update yet” for Xbox Live.
Major League Baseball will supply 2,430 live games that will also be archived, along with all of last season’s games. HBO Go is bringing its entire catalogue, amounting to thousands of show episodes. And the partnership with Xfinity is “the first time that Comcast has brought its On-Demand content to a console,” according to Mehdi.
Microsoft says that 40 million people worldwide subscribe to Xbox Live at a price of up to $60 per year. Besides the subscription revenue, Xbox Live is building an advertising business

If HBO is giving premiere access to GoT S2, I'll be able to have my party on Sunday. If not, I'll have to decide between going out with my daughters to a friend's house or watching it solo after they're in bed...

Just did a little research. Directv is supporting HBO Go on the Xbox 360
Here are the others that support it:
AT&T U-Verse
Charter
Cox
Dish Network
Mediacom
Optimum
RCN
Suddenlink
Verizon
Wow!

Yes. I'm talking about those that haven't supported Roku or Samsung Smart TVs since the Xbox is the same concept. Really, this has been repeated ad nauseum around here and the HBOGo thread when people kept asking if their provider would allow it after the precedent said no.
Allowing it on mobile devices and tablets and computers isn't the same as allowing it on set-top boxes like the Xbox.

So it's available (75MB app) and I got it set up and working. Not too bad, a little slow compared to the Samsung version and the first video I tried to play (Robocop, natch) wouldn't load but GoT did. Kinect is fully enabled so voice control is just fine.
All in all, pretty nice and convenient

That's cool. I was really hoping my provider would be on the ball by now, but now I doubt it will ever happen.

Is Xfinity available? If so how does that work? Do you just enter your comcast username and pw? Does it use any type of software to detect if you have the xfinity cable box hooked up?

Yes. Probably exactly like everything else. Most likely. Highly doubtful, though they could, in theory, require a Comcast ISP connection and maybe even your own Comcast ISP connection (Cox does this on their TV iPad app).
