re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Yeah, i know it's probably not ALL phishing. I agree though that it is probably some kind of compromised server somewhere and either the company hosting this server that has been compromised either doesn't know about it or they just aren't telling anyone. I would not put it past EA on this one either.
However, I don't think FIFA being an ea game really has anything to do with it. Someone posted earlier that accounts with those packs on them are selling for real money so it's just another way for them to make money, just appears that FIFA is the easiest one to do that in. They are getting the info from somewhere and I'm quite sure it's for the most part NOT from brute forcing. |

EDIT: Had a gmail login. And a dragon beats a chicken any day. No contest. I'd sure as hell be pecking at his throat on the way down though. |

Basically, we are at the same stage we were with Windows. It was the most popular OS, so it was the most attacked by hackers.
In the last six months or so I've read about all kind of attacks to Xbox Live, some mentioned here already. It seems the Xbox servers are secure though. I wonder what else they can do to avoid these problems. |

Yeah, more details. Joystiq had something the other day that said one of the only links between all the people reporting being hacked was that they used gmail or hotmail as their Live ID address.
Does that fit your profile glassdragon? I have a CAG account with same email, slightly different password. |

did you happen to use the same email and password on your ea account as you did xbox?
In fact, anyone who was hacked...have you ever played ANY EA game...and if so did you ever take the time to create an EA account...if you are not sure try logging into EA and see if you username/email and password is the same as your xbox...or old xbox password.. |

What's the limit on how far out your XBL subscription can go?

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
No idea(mines been up to 2.5 years paid, so at least 3 years), but it looks like xbox.com is down again. I wonder what the hell is going on over there.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Yeah, 3 years. There was once time that I was covered for 3 years, because of all the deals. And then I won a card in CAG. I had to wait a few months before I could apply that card.
Right now I'm only covered until 2/23/14 :( |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
That's what I thought, sonofabitch.
I got a $40 card from Amazon yesterday because it was kinda cheap and with the January XBL Rewards rebate, I figured "why not". Then the code keeps coming back with "An error has occurred during the transaction. Please try again later." I looked at my 5/26/2014 expiration and did the math and thought it must be 36ish months. What a terrible return message for that problem. AND I get punished by not being able to get the monthly reward because I give them too much money already -ohbfrank- |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I got hacked a couple of months back and they got about $70 worth of points before I caught them, about 15 minutes after the fact or it would have probably been worse. I played an EA game for the first time in years, NCAA12, and I do not use my gmail account, but recently updated to a family plan. They did the FIFA thing and I saw them on my account playing FIFA. It took about 2.5 months to get my account back and I had to call MS to get it turned back on, no contact from them stating it was resolved.

That's what I'm more worried about. Losing Xbox Live access. I can get my money back without problem, that's what CC are for. But losing a month of Xbox Live access?? What would I do? Play my PS3? LOL!

I'd guess your current save games wouldn't load under the new profile either.

So out of boredom, and since a lot of us are also CAG users, here are the hacked numbers:

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Does CAG has an "official" guide on how to avoid/reduce being hacked?
There have been a lot of good tips in this thread, but a "definitive" post would be better. Yesterday, or the day before, I couldn't get into Xbox Live and I was thinking the worse. I could see friends online checking the Xbox.com site, but no, I wasn't showing online. I did a test and the connection to Xbox Live wasn't working. I did a search and yeah, the response was to clear my cache. I didn't do it, of course. I just turned off my Xbox, turned it on again and still didn't work. So I turned it off again, went to do some other stuff, and one hour later it was working fine. |

Seriously though, I would use an email address specifically and ONLY for live with a different pass than any place else. That way you will likely only get hacked unless you have a keygen or get phished. That will help a bit. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Well, got my account back. Still missing the MS points, but that could take 10 business days. Did get two free months of live out of it and an additional 200 MS points. So far so good.
