HBOGo via Comcast also works on the iPad. They seem to like mobile devices, but hate set-top boxes.

As I mentioned before, they only let HBOGo on mobile devices because they don't think you can get a full experience on a 3-9" screen. One of the core features of iOS 5 is the "video mirroring" allowing you to push that content to the big screen via an AirPlay point (like the AppleTV). However, many apps are now explicitly disabling that feature of iOS at the request of the cable providers. So, for HBO, it's either constrict your user base or restrict the features.

Anyone have the Update yet?

I just logged on again and still nothing. According to Major Nelson, it's already been released.

It still makes no sense for my cable provider to block HBO Go even on set top boxes. The money they get from me is the same either way. :hscratch:

But then you're not relying on their proprietary device.

Their proprietary device delivers more channels than HBO. Some, I even watch occasionally.

What does that have to do with HBOGo?

The cable company makes you subscribe to HBO before you can get HBOGo. They don't want you watching HBOGo on your living room TV. They don't care about your teeny, tiny screen so they don't block that. But they do work with HBO(Go) to prevent the app from mirroring.

Everyone has a display now in their living room, right? Hook up your computer to the display and play it that way.

Well the upgrade went great but now I can't log in to Xbox Live.

Go to network settings an test connection, this will force the update. No one can get signed into live afterward though.

Can't update or connect to Xbox Live. The good news -- I can play Skyrim without having to cancel the nag screen for the patch.

I can't sign on to Xbox Live, and I wasn't able to download the update. I was kicked off MW3 at exactly 11PM, and I haven't been able to go back online since. Thanks MS.

Is there any way to bulk-delete stuff from the hard drive? I've got probably 40GB of crap that I'd love to delete. But it's 100's of tiny 50MB items.

So this outage, rare though they may be, sort of casts a bad light on the idea of their cloud storage implementation, no? Or did we discover that there are still local copies even if you save to the cloud? (I can't see how that would be based on their interface for selecting it as an MU).

Sounds like the Netflix party watch feature is gone.

yes I heard about that on neogaf this morning...

Party watch feature is one of those things that if you don't use it you really don't see the value. When it was first announced I said "who the fuck wants to watch a movie while people talk???" After my first night watching something with friends while drunk...laughing...and having a good time I was hooked. Fast forward to when Netflix fucked us over with their new pricing on dvds....and the ONLY reason I kept the service was to party watch stuff with friends...my kids watch HULU more than netflix anyway...

So now the feature is gone..while we can still be in a party while watching, it is a huge hassle to sync up a show...if it is just two...takes a few tries and you can get it to about 5 seconds if your lucky..and that is enough to miss jokes together...taking you out of the fun...

Get 5 guys together and it is impossible to sync...

I already canceled my netflix membership. It does not let you list why you dropped netflix, so I called to make the note on my file. As of today I know of 3 people who dropped netflix...all of us only kept it after the price increase because of party feature...

Started going through some of it tonight.

As far as video goes, you have to re-download all the apps like Netflix, Hulu and even ESPN.

The ESPN App is pretty much useless. Before I was able to have on demand access to games/highlights etc. Now apparently my ISP (Time Warner) doesn't support this ESPN XBox Live App and I can't access it. Not that it really matters since I already get all the ESPN's on Directv. All I get when I log on to it is a bunch of ESPN Sports Center clips.

A rare fail for Microsoft, specially this late in the Xbox 360 life (I know this issue is related to Xbox Live, but still).

I played last night until 10:30 pm PST, I have the beta, and didn't have any issues. But I received a message from someone in my friend list, a dvdtalker I think, saying that he had issues with the update. And of course people are complaining all over the boards, twitter, etc.

For the ones with the beta, are we going to have some kind of update too?

Just went to Xbox.com and they upgraded the Terms of Use, didn't read it though. :p

Anything special there?
