premium themes no longer have the images behind your friends like on the old dashboard....

I'm liking the new metro interface so far. While playing games, I'm getting a lot more popups when friends sign in and out and also when they change games. And that was before I messed around with the new Beacon thing. I need to put this on my second xbox and see if the cloud saves work. That's my most anticipated feature.

The HBO Go thing makes no sense to me. I'm still paying my provider the same amount whether I'm watching on HBO Go or on my cable box.

My understanding is that HBO Go offers far, far more than HBO On Demand. I also wasn't aware of HBO Go being offered directly on cable boxes. This and Roku last week are the first "primary display" options I've heard about for HBO Go.

What I meant by watching it on the cable box was watching the channels and/or On Demand.

My point is that the money that the cable company gets is the same whether I use them or use HBO Go. What the hell do they care how I watch it?

I've been asking that since I couldn't mirror my iPad app to the TV via the hdmi cable or the new iOS mirroring.

 That is by far my favorite part of the premium themes. That's a bummer.

I downloaded and ran the tool last night, it confirmed that I'm in, but see no changes to my dashboard even this morning. Is there something else to run before it starts?

Do you show the "Pre-release" channel on your dashboard? If you have that, then nothing else to do but wait.

You will be prompted to run the update as soon as turn on the console. Until then...what Edison said.

If you're not prompted, go into the avatar editor. It'll force the update.

I haven't been prompted for an update or gotten the Beta channel yet, as of this morning. If it's not up this evening when I get home from work, I'll try that avatar editor trick. Thanks everyone for the help!

Sounds like you're just waiting for an approval/flipped switch on their end.

After you run the tool, you should get the Beta channel. But you're saying you don't have it? Did you actually run the tool? When I first downloaded it, I thought it ran automatically, and then a day later after having no beta channel I realized I had to go into my game library and "play" the beta tool. Did you do all that?

I downloaded it. Then I went in my download history, found it and played it. It asked me to confirm my gamertag, asked me to agree to their terms and then said I'm in. That's running the tool right? Did I need to do something else after that?
And where does this beta channel show up? Is it somewhere on the dashboard, like the Welcome channel is until you hide it?

Yes, No. dashboard, yes.

Thanks. Guess I'm set but it just didn't show up as of this morning. If it doesn't show by evening time, I'll try the avatar editor.

Just to clarify - I had the Beta channel but wasn't getting prompted for an update. I read on another forum that going into the avatar editor would force it, so I tried it and it worked immediately. Don't know if the same thing applies if you don't even have the Beta channel.

Got the update. Is there some way to find Indie Games or XBLA games in the Marketplace any more? I can't find one (except from Kotaku's Indie game recommendations.

Go to "Game Type" on the main Game Marketplace tab (should be on the upper right) and from there, you can pick Indie Games.

Thanks. I'll try that. Navigation with the Kinect is much easier with this set up. Not sure how I feel about this new dash for my main, non-Kinect 360 yet.

Has anyone tried logging into Xbox live? Looks like the server is down right now. A bunch of people on Twitter are also reporting it down.

So, no HBOGO App yet, right?

I know, I should check the official forums...
