Yeah, I got the update when I signed in first thing this morning.
Despite what Major Nelson's info says, the Auto-Off option is Disabled by default after the update, at least for me. It also has "after 1 hour" and "after 6 hours" options. I think my slim used to auto off at like 3 or 4 hours or something, weird. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
For my very first time, like a dumbass, I decided to download a video from Zune, on Xbox Live to play on my Xbox. 100 points gone and it never played once. The first time and every time after I have tried to play it it gives me an error message and says "status code c00d36c4."
I went on a few websites looking for answers and have tried some various suggestions but it still won't work (re-downloaded the optional media update, deleted the file, re-downloaded it, etc.) and nothing seems to be working. Anyone else here had this issue? |

Even though you can buy it from the Zune marketplace, the Xbox won't play gay porn. Tough luck.

From IGN :
Report: Stereoscopic 3D Coming To Xbox 360 Update will enable 3D on consoles with HDMI output. UK, May 24, 2011 by Daniel Krupa IGN UK Xbox 360 is poised to receive full stereoscopic 3D support, with an official announcement likely at this year's E3 according the rumours circulating yesterday. The 3D technology is said to be the same as that used by the PlayStation 3. Back in January, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg said that while technically the Xbox 360 was fully capable of supporting 3D games, they were "unsure what level of interest there is from consumers to really want a 3D experience." However, he added that it would be supported "Many, many years from now when it becomes a reality." Welcome to the world of tomorrow. According to a Eurogamer source, who is 'familiar with Xbox 360 development', 3D support will soon be enabled on Microsoft's console. The source said that the "machine is not only very capable, it's more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo, assuming you don't have one of the old crappy ones with the composite leads." Currently, stereoscopic 3D is one of the PS3's unique selling points, allowing those with a 3D-enabled television to play PS3 exclusives like Killzone 3 and GT5, as well as third-party titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Crysis 2, in immersive full 3D. Expect more details at Microsoft's E3 press conference on June 6. This confuses me since I've already played Crysis 2 on the 360 in 3D. What was I doing if not playing in stereoscopic 3D? |

No interest.

+1.

Count me in in the "no interest" camp either. I haven't seen any "3D" tech that's really impressed me as of yet.

Eh, once you get the 3D TV and the glasses, it's kind of a cool gimmick to check out on occasion. Is it worth getting a new TV for? Nope. Is it worth buying some games just so they'll be in 3D? No. But with the PS3, for games I already have like Super Stardust HD, WipEout HD and Killzone 3, it's kind of fun to occasionally play them in 3D. For me it's at least as useful an update as Avatar Kinect (whenever that actually arrives).
BTW and o/t : Has the 360 eliminated the functionality of the old camera? I tried to do a video chat with my buddy who doesn't own a Kinect and I couldn't seem to find the option to have a non-Kinect video chat. |

You bought it through the Xbox, the zune store or on the zune website? Some videos will only work on the Zune, some only on the Xbox and some on both. I bought the new season of Doctor who on the xbox and I think it will only play on the xbox. If you go to the Zune site and look up the video, it will tell you on which platforms it can play.
I wish I had know what you said before. I bought it thru my xbox. All it was was the video for "I'm On A Boat" by The Lonely Island. I will see if I can find out how it is available to be seen. Pretty crummy to sell stuff thru the xbox and then not be able to play it. |

Zero interest in 3D games or movies. The 3D movies at the theater make my eyes fatigued and I'm not buying glasses for the whole family at home. Pass.

I have a 3D TV but no interest in replacing my Denon receiver to get one that supports HDMI 1.4 :(

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Again, it's not worth buying a new TV just to get the ability to play 3D games, but for those who already have it, getting that ability is a nice bonus. If watching in 3D gives you a headache, I can understand not wanting it, but otherwise it's a pretty cool novelty to try out once in a while. Without fail, the thing that impresses my guests the most in my new "man cave" is seeing the 3D effect in movies or games on the TV. It really is pretty cool up on a big TV screen, even if it's just for short bursts (it's certainly not for long play sessions).
If there's any fundamental difference between that gimmick and the Kinect (another limited gameplay novelty -- one that sold like gangbusters), I'm not seeing it. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I guess I hadn't turned on my X-box in a while since I just got the dash update. And while I read what the update entails, which isn't much, it was a fairly lengthy download, so I'm wondering if it updated anything else.

I'm sure the dashboard isn't patched, but pushed as a whole every time.

Possible price cut for 360:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/..._campaign=blog Notice the image shows 299.99 for a 250 with Kinect Bundle deal. When clicking that ad, it shows the regular Target price at $399.99 as it has not officially dropped yet. |

I think a price drop on the 360 and PS3 are a pretty safe bet. They both have had free gift cards and coupons at various retailers the past few weeks.
