Yeah, I know but seems more like a 360 thing to me

Sticking with multiplatform pubs for the OP, but that sounds about right. I'd have picked Batmat for the 360, but that's probably just my lack of interest in multi-player FPS.

Batmat? Is that what's outside the Batcave to welcome visitors?

:p

It's an accessory for the Batman-themed Dance Dance Revolution game.

I'm sure no one is interested, but I wrote a little bit about my problems with Uncharted 2 today:

It's not as well-formed as I'd like, but it should at least get some of my thinking across.

I did check your blog out. It's an interesting read, but I'm not sure I fully grasp your main complaint. Is it that Uncharted 2 is too cinematic or not interactive enough? Sure, there are parts that are more dramatic and less challenging, but there are still plenty of lively action and entertaining (if not particularly challenging) puzzle segments as well.

And I'd be remiss to not point out that it's not like Flower gave you exquisite control over your petal avatar or was especially challenging either -- and you picked that as your Game Of The Year.

No, my main complaint is simply that the reason why the game is so highly regarded has little to do with the ludic elements of the game. It's seen as a highly immersive experience, but I don't believe it is, at least not as a game- it's just that it's an incredibly polished narrative experience that highly borrows from the language of film.

I'm really not trying to denigrate the achievements of the game, and I think it's set a nice high bar for other game designers (particularly in voice acting), but it still remains the case that it's pretty much a incredibly sophisticated interactive movie.

The most fun I had with a game was Dragon Age: Origins, by far.

Runner-up is Uncharted 2. Third place is Batman: Arkham Asylum.

A site that compiles these things: http://gotypicks.blogspot.com/2009/0...e-of-year.html

And their tally:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - 84
Batman: Arkham Asylum - 22
Dragon Age: Origins - 14
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 11
Assassin's Creed II - 10
Demon’s Souls - 3
Fallout 3 - 3 (2008 - 63)
Borderlands - 2
Street Fighter IV - 2
Call of Duty: World at War - 1
Killzone 2 - 1
Left 4 Dead 2 - 1

I think it's kind of funny how much it mirrors our tally.
