What part are you talking about exactly?

I "cheated" in Arkham Asylum, and listened to the inmate tapes via youtube, and have done the same thing in City to see the endings of some of the sidequests I couldn't/didn't complete. Some will say that totally defeats the point, but I was curious to see how some of these plot threads wrapped up, while I wasn't having fun doing them (Riddler clues). Youtube is such a luxury.

Since it is inevitable that we'll get another game in this franchise, I look forward to playing both Asylum and City again back to back before the next one comes out. Such satisfying experiences.

I was walking around looking for anything hidden tonight, A block or so from the museum, toward the direction of the security wall, I found Sal Maroni's Italian Restaurant! That means this Batman universe has Falcone and Maroni as mob bosses.

Regarding HUSH:

Spoiler:

Kevin Conroy has stated his work on future DLC has been both extensive and time consuming. Conroy also voiced HUSH, so it's possible we will see that story completed via DLC.

I might be blanking out but when did Conroy voice Hush? I know he wasn't in The Animated Series at all as the Hush story wasn't written until after it ended. Was it on Justice League? I wouldn't know if it was as I didn't really watch much of that.

I would therefore say if you don't know who they are, then you in fact know basically nothing at all about the Batman universe.

If you don't know anything about the Batman universe, then why does it even matter? Who they are only truly matters if you actually know them. Otherwise they could be Pee Wee Herman characters and you wouldn't know any difference.

Anyway, rant aside, those weren't really spoilers. Azrael is really nothing more than a brief cameo appearance that will fly right over your head if you don't even know who he is, and the killer was just me speculating it was Hush based on the evidence I have gathered so far. I don't know for certain that it is since I have yet to complete it. So my speculation certainly should not be regarded as a spoiler.

Good point. From now on, tell me who the last boss is in every game you play. I think the last boss in this game is some clown. The Jokester or something.

If I don't know about a game, or it's lore and/or history, it's good to know there's someone with a big mouth like you around to show me what the hell is up

Bullshit. Game threads are WAY different than movie/TV show threads. Just because I rarely, if ever, go to the thread of a game I'm finished with. The treads are fun while I'm playing the game. When I'm done with the game, I'm over it.

But then, games are different enough, where I don't think they can be "spoiled" in the same way a movie/TV show can either simply by stating what happens.

Oh come on now. Saying someone has a 10 second cameo appearance is not nearly in the same league as spoiling the final boss.

Which makes him all the more impressive to me. To be able to switch it up like that. Homie is a BOSS.

True, but then everyone has a different tolerance level about where they draw the line with spoilers. I know I didn't want to know ANYTHING about this game going in. I wish there was a way I could have kept the fact that Catwoman is in the game, because it is fun to discover that stuff yourself. But at the same time, when a game is being discussed, you do have to expect that some things will be spoiled for you in a game's thread. Like the fact that Superman is the final boss. Who saw that coming? -wink-

Backwards logic much? In what plane of existence can a game story not be spoiled?

In my plane, where I've never ever played a game for it's story, and therefore don't care if it gets "spoiled" - I put that in quotes because, aside from playing it in front of me, it's impossible to spoil a video game for me.

If only there were some sort of easy to use tag that we could implement, so that people who wanted to see and discuss spoilers could, while making them hidden from others.

Madness!

Since that doesn't exist, if only there was a way for people that didn't want to risk being spoiled not venturing into a thread for which they're not fully ready.

Or we can use spoiler tags.

Or the ignore button, for example, I have Groucho and Pinata in ignore because they think they are funny spoiling all the games I like.

I stand by my thoughts that the Catwoman sections of the game left a little something to be desired, but I've been playing her in the challenge rooms, and she's actually a blast to play there. Her brawling animations are really fucking cool. She's like a little ninja. And the animated skin? Hubba hubba.

Is there a certain trick to gliding to the buttons on the walls and sticking to them to turn around and look at the next botton you have to trigger? Seems like I can turn around 1 out of 50 times and Im shocked that I did it, I fail to glide to the next button.

Deftones 10-27-11 12:46 PM

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

what i did was when i stuck to the wall, i immediately hit down, which turned the camera around, then pushed the button to begin gliding again.

I made a mistake before regarding 'Joker'! Apologies to Rocksteady.

Spoiler:

If you detective scan the Joker during the thug fight at his base he indeed is Clayface, and does not have any bones! Not only that, but if you listen very closely while approaching the Joker's 'office' you can hear Quinn mention the other Joker being a fake, to which Joker quickly tells her to shut up.

Joker states he hid Clayface right under Batman's nose, but I still don't see Batman overlooking that little detail.

I didn't like playing her portion of the game, but I actually prefer her in large fights. I seem to be able to avoid getting hit more often when using her, and I'm able to do longer combos.

I wish there was an endless mode of thugs to fight. I don't know how many the system could handle before chugging, but I would love to be dropped in an arena having to fight 100 dudes. That would be boss.

Mikael, if you have Robin what do you think of him?

I don't, and I know it was a pre-order bonus, but I didn't get it from whatever method needed. What I'm really looking forward to is the DLC of different Batman skins.

I beat the game the other night and I'm not sure which direction to go...side missions, + mode, or doing the battles that I have opened. I'm leaning toward the battles, then try to unlock more battles in the side missions...then go for the damn trophies.

I think I liked the first game better (barring the horrible ending) only because this one didn't have the 'newness' that the first one had. This one definitely had a better story, but at times I found myself saying 'not this again, ugh'. I also really enjoyed playing a Catwoman, it gave some variety and eye candy. Definitely worth the money...now to hop to it if I'm gonna get it finished before MW3!

so I thought I was done with the game...I had all the side quest done...Riddler is captured....did all the challenge maps that I wanted to do...but I decided to do a new game plus. Now THIS is what I am talking about. I had no idea I would enjoy a second play as much as this...

As for the catwoman, she is still a bitch....I wish I could skip her missions in new game plus....I understand what everyone is saying about her speed, but against armed and heavily armored enemies, I do so much better with Batman..

I am sure it has a lot to do with how much I played as Batman, but he just seems better equipped to deal with harder thugs. His multi-takedown move (A+B) almost breaks the game when combined with something that can take a group down like an explosive. Time that right and you can clear a room in seconds.

What is it about new game+ that's working so much for you? Just the added difficulty?

two things..

1: I am not distracted early on like I was the first time I played. I am focusing on the main missions.... It is not that I don't like games that open up from the start (hell some older pc RPG games told you nothing and I loved those) it is just that in THIS game, it just did feel right the first half..

2: Yes the added difficulty. I really started to enjoy the game later because the rooms you had to clear needed more thinking. It really is not that big of a deal not having a counter button pop up because I don't think anymore when I fight. Combat has actually been easy...but the rooms you have to use stealth on have been as fun early on as they were later in the game because of the added difficulty.

Ah, I can totally echo that sentiment. When I lost my save, and had to play the first chunk of the game over again, I enjoyed it MUCH more as well.

I just hit the 'A' button when I hit a button and it automatically spins the camera around and gives me a second to get my bearings before jumping.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I just beat the game. It was good, but I enjoyed the first game a lot more.

Spoiler:
Protocol 10 was a let down. I was hoping for something truly epic between Strange and Batman, and instead Protocol 10 was just a plan to blow up Arkham City. Yawn. I must have missed it, but what motivation did Strange even have to blow up the City? He was the boss and running everything, so why blow it all up? It didn't make sense.

Clayface mimicking Joker was too reminiscent of Clayface mimicking Jason Todd in the comics, and after that happened with Jason, Batman would never fall for it again.

What is up with killing so many villains in the last half hour of the game? That was just overkill. (Pun intended.) Hugo Strange, Ra's al Ghul, Talia, and Joker all died. I guess though that certainly isn't the first time Ra's has died, and he can always be brought back via the Lazarus Pits, and Talia probably could too. Joker has also died several times in the comics and always comes back, so his death should never assumed to be permanent either. Strange is probably the only one likely to be dead for good, although he has died twice in the comics and keeps coming back as well.

Regarding side missions, I never got a second call to progress the identity theft killer mission. I don't know if that is a bug or not. Its the only one I haven't finished besides the Riddler hostages. Speaking of the Riddler, collecting the trophies in the first game was fun, and I played through it 100% several times. However, in the second game, the Riddler trophies are just a chore and I doubt I will ever 100% the game a second time. Some of those trophies are just a complete pain to get, like the one where you have to skim the water for a few feet and then fit through a tiny hole without touching the side. That was worse than any of the advanced AR trainings. I also had no idea you could use explosive gel on the question mark buttons and the game certainly gives no indication that you can, so those left me puzzled for a long time.

I finished that last night. I was just flying around and randomly came upon all of them.

Also, Inside Hugo Strange's WT processing room, where you fight the Tyger guards, there is door that shows up as locked regardless of what I do to try and get in. My detective vision makes it look like any other locked door and shows 19 thugs somewhere in the area behind it. Has anyone opened that door? (It's under one of the small TV monitors.)
