to get the final riddler hostages, you have to get 400 of the 440 challenges/trophies, right? i assumed it would open up when you got all the batman trophies, but no dice.

Also on the ending: Tonight I noticed ...
Spoiler:

Ra's is gone from the fence if you re-explore the area after the credits, similar to how he vanished if you rechecked the morgue in AA. My guess is Talia was removed also, probably by the LOShadows, hence why Batman carried Joker out of Arkham City and not a dead Talia.

Watch the last Batman/Joker scene carefully. Batman clearly blacks out and wakes up with the cure in his hand. I'd bet anything Rocksteady shot it that way so they could bring Joker back if they want, ala Clayface. Keep in mind Paul Dini had Clayface play dead in The Animated Series.

* It should also be noted that Arkham City has a major plot hole. In AA Batman could use detective vision and scan Clayface. He showed up with no bones. How would that of all things get past Batman and have him confuse Clayface for the Joker in Arkham City?

Hey, you're giving me too much credit. I'm a bigger idiot than you realize. I heard Batman say the batarang could hold an electrical charge, and I STILL didn't figure it out. -wink-

And just an FYI, I really like the redesigns of most of the Batman characters, but they made Deadshot look like an idiot. His redesign was totally unnecessary.

I realized that the Augmented Reality Trainings had only 8 total and not the 32 I was thinking..lol...when I heard there were 8 total, I thought each one was made up of 4 tests..I thought they would be hard, but besides one, I was able to do the final 4 first time....one of them though, took like 20 times...

Drats. Looks like this might be the last game in the franchise. Arkham Asylum has only sold a measly 2 million copies in its first week of release. What a letdown, Rocksteady. How about you guys try harder next time.

Will the next one be Arkham Planet, or will they jump ahead to Arkham Universe?

Arkham Universe, just in time to combat Mass Effect 4.

Just finished up the last riddler hostage thing. I think I'm done. I don't have much interest in the challenge maps. Probably time to sell this sucker back to Best Buy and get like $45 in trade in value.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Beat this game last night and... Very nicely done. I loved it.

Still...

Spoiler:
Having the one last Catwoman stage after the credits is a kick in the dick. I'd like to just go back through as Batman and work on the side missions. Having one last go-round with Catwoman stealthing around wiping out goons and Two-Face is really annoying. After doing most of the ending stuff in Wonder Tower I was just about ready to check out and shut my brain off for side stuff.

I'll quit pissing my pants over this and just get it done today.

There's a billion different Riddler trophies I have to get yet. I didn't have the patience to get all these things with the last game and I don't know that I'll go hog wild with it this time.

Only time I really got frustrated with the game was with Freeze. Even the mass thug battles and fights with Ra's, Mad Hatter, and Clayface were relatively simple by the end. The skulking around to beat Strange's goons was very exhilarating.

Great, great game.

So much time is need to complete just the main story?
I think I'll try to finish it this week.

I would guess 8 to 10 hours.

Statman, you can go back as Batman and complete the side-missions.

I've been trying to knock out all the side missions as I go to help reduce the "noise" as I go around town (phones ringing, political prisoners calling for help, etc). The problem is that many of them are multi-part, so they never seem to go away completely. :gah:

Don't even mention phones ringing! I pick one up to stop its incessant ringing -- surprise, I get an "optional" mission : find the source of this ringing in 120 seconds or lose the game. Gee, thanks for that "diversion", Rocksteady.

Fuck them forcing the last few story missions on you without a chance to explore more.

Normally shit like this pisses me off since I hate timed missions. But this was fun and relatively easy.

yeah, i don't get the hatred for the ringing phones. guess what. you don't have to answer.

I actually thought tracking down Mr. Zsasz periodically when you heard a phone ringing was a lot of fun; it was cool to have to actually race through the city to a destination.

Geez, all you whiners bitching about everything makes me glad I haven't played since the 90 minutes I spent that first night a week ago.

Gaming doesn't sound fun anymore.

I gotta say the game is so huge, it's kinda not fun. Here I was doing a side mission with Bane (find the 6 containers of TITAN)... and the next thing I know I stumbled on a main story mission and I'm totally confused on what just happened.

That happened to me too, so I decided to play the main story and do the side mission after I finished the game. Besides the Titan containers can only be found while doing the main story.

I don't see how you can be confused. One of the titan containers is in a location where the main story is occurring. So, once you go there, it will trigger that event.

Same here. I had fun. I made most with plenty of time to spare. There were a few where I was gliding down and hit "A" just as time was expiring though. Close call!

It seems like most of the people in this thread bitching are just going off about stupid stuff. Who cares if you hear chatter from the criminals or phones ringing? Is it really so distracting that it effects how you play the game? It adds to it for me I'd rather hear some noise than just nothing.

Raul3 10-26-11 11:56 AM

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Some of the chat is actually funny, although I've read most of them online.

So, IGN finally released its walkthrough for the ones interested.

According to it, I'm halfway there. But according to the game stats I'm like 20-30%, they have stats for the main story and for the game completion, for the full game I'm like 7%.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I finally got the game yesterday. I have played for about 5 hours, and so far I like the original game more.

Those Advanced AR training exercises are a huge pain. It took me over an hour before I completed them all. And the reward for doing so? Nothing. You get a grapnel boost for completing the easy beginner exercises, but struggle through the advanced ones and you get nothing. That makes a whole lot of sense.

I did love the Azrael cameo as the "mysterious watcher", and it is also obvious the killer who looks like Bruce Wayne and wraps the victim's head in bandages is going to be Hush.

Sure, it's a minor thing in the scope of things in an otherwise great game, but that chatter is incessant. It would be one thing if it were stuff you heard when you were sneaking around behind baddies, but this is stuff you can hear chatting on the street from the top of buildings. Maybe it bothers me more than others, but I'm having trouble tuning it out and wish there were a way to turn it off without muting the game. It bugs me almost as much here as in Ms Splosion Man.

Yeah, that's exactly what happened... when you go down the chimney of the steel mill. I was anticipating only getting the TITAN thing and then I was knee deep in another mission. I'm not even sure what the end game of the mission is just yet --- will I get the TITAN container AND complete the main story mission or have to go back in?

As someone has already pointed out earlier in this thread, the Titan containers can all be found by your normal progression of the main storyline. I would recommend not focusing on that side mission alone, just take them out along the way.

What? I found 4 of them during the main game. Found the last two after finishing the game. Then returned to where that submission began to end it.

Oh I know, I was just annoyed at the one part there toward the end that was a must-do. I've figured it out though. Tricky, but neat.

That's the thing with this game, when I've come across something that drove me crazy and thought I'd hate, I just got back to it and worked at beating that part and appreciated it more later. Feeling rewarded, what a concept!

You get an achivement for finishing them.

Oh and thanks for the spoilers. Not all of us know the Batman universe left and right. I had no idea who the Watcher was nor who the fuck Hush is.

don't read the thread unless you want shit to be spoiled. that's pretty much the rule of thumb when it comes to games. sort of like you wouldn't go read the walking dead thread before going seeing an episode.

I think games are a little different, since they take a lot longer to get through and not everybody is in the same place.

I have to agree with this. I check this thread just to see what people have to say about it, or if I can help/comment on something. I finished the game last night, and the first side mission I started today was "Mysterious Stranger", which I didn't finish yet...not a biggie for me, but I can see how some people would get kinda pissed.

You certainly don't need to know the Batman universe "left and right" to know who Azrael and Hush are. They were only involved in two of the biggest Batman stories of the 1990s and 2000s respectively...

I would therefore say if you don't know who they are, then you in fact know basically nothing at all about the Batman universe.

If you don't know anything about the Batman universe, then why does it even matter? Who they are only truly matters if you actually know them. Otherwise they could be Pee Wee Herman characters and you wouldn't know any difference.

Anyway, rant aside, those weren't really spoilers. Azrael is really nothing more than a brief cameo appearance that will fly right over your head if you don't even know who he is, and the killer was just me speculating it was Hush based on the evidence I have gathered so far. I don't know for certain that it is since I have yet to complete it. So my speculation certainly should not be regarded as a spoiler.

Technically not everyone is in the same place when watching through a TV season either. You assume everyone watches TV as it airs.
